Do you guys think they're really totally sold out? I mean, surely hot toys wants to sell as many as they can... and surely they didn't so drastically underestimate demand that it really sold out before the movie was even released... I have to imagine more are coming, or they're planning another production run like they've done with many of the ANH figures...

I think its just a marketing scam. They got plenty. Just be patience.

Yes and no. I'm sure the fudge a bit for getting those scare sales. They also get a certain allotment, and those may have all been preordered, but there will be cancellations and declined credit cards. Those orders will get filled from waitlists and then once that is done back on the site for order.

Nice comparison pics, thanks!

I like the look of the RO version. He looks more menacing in my eyes because of his extra bulk. But I already have the ANH version and as such I need to save my funds for some of the other OT HT 2017 releases. Surely Tarkin must be in the mix for being a HT release at some stage. He's a major want for me, especially after RO. some of his scenes were epic IMO.

Agreed. As much as I love the ANH look, it somehow doesn't translate as well to the figure and it comes off looking a little too lean and narrow shouldered for my taste. The RO version just has much more of that Vader presence I want to see in a figure.

This is what I got when asking BBTs when they getting RO vader.

"Thank you for contacting us and I will be happy to help. We are expecting a partial shipment of this product sometime mid to late next week but it will not enough to cover every preorder. We were also notified that we can expect them to be shipped in waves as well. I do apologize but this has become common as of late with some vendors and has happened to several other lines that we have carry. If you should have any other questions or you need further assistance in the meantime, please do not hesitate to ask."

When I asked will they get more in stock. This is their reply.

"Our listing is completely sold out and I would not anticipate there being more available as of now."

That's exactly what my LCS said about a restock. I paid about $25 over retail before tax for it but I'm definitely glad I got my order secured when I did. To me this guy's worth every penny.

Sideshow seems to buy in waves now for the last two years or so. If the first wave doesn't sell out quickly, then they are not stuck with stock taking up space in their warehouse. Once it does sell, they order the "second wave".

Keep in mind that HT over produced for TFA. So I'm certain they have cut their production numbers back for further Star Wars figures, even OT. So we may once again see things sell out like they used to.

I accumulated $115 rewards points that I was going to blow on this Vader around the 17th (trying to rack up them Christmas weekend RPs they were emailing). That was the plan anyway. Then it suddenly went to waitlist on the 15th or 16th or whatever.

They're not going to scare me into going on waitlist. $250 is a lot of dough for such a basic release. If it goes back up for order, great. If it doesn't, whatever. I have the ANH Hot Toys Vader. I'm sure an Empire Vader is in the works anyway. They're already half way there with this RO version. Change a few things, include a cut up back head reveal head from the meditation chamber, a gantry and maybe another voice feature (so they can find a reason to charge $315 or something), and there you go.

On the stand, he has 1/4" clearance on the top shelf. The other shelves, about 5/8" clearance.

I didn't know the top shelf is higher than the others. I always thought they are all the same. Learn something new everyday.

Wow! I was contemplating canceling my preorder to just catch one when they're in stock, but now I'm glad I didn't. I'm not missing this release. RO was my favorite Vader appearance in the saga so far.
