I wonder how Vader's armor gets jacked up in this film so in ANH you can see the battle damage .

This armor looks spotless. Even has the two grill rods in place. I wonder if Vader gets messed up fighting the blind master :dunno

A few theories are that it would be spoilerish or it might make people think Vader uses his saber in R1 when he doesn't.

Wouldn't not including it actually be a spoiler? I don't want to know that he doesn't use his saber. I'd rather assume he does and then see why he doesn't when I watch the film. Eh, this is just a lose-lose situation at this point. My take is that if you're going to include the hilt, include the blade.

Jakks didn't give Vader an ignited blade on the initial Vader, then did that Costco one as an exclusive with ignited blade and prices went nuts, its not a spoiler, people just want a damn saber with their Vader. They want it with cheap plastic toys, so they sure as hell expect it with so called "high end" collectibles.

Just saw the final R1 trailer & Vader definitely lights up his saber.

If you're talking about the one where he lights up his saber at the end, that one's fan made. Official one doesn't come til Doctor Strange releases

Maybe HT is just holding it back because of some plot device like it's actually deconstructed or something. Once the movie is out, they'll update the preview pics like always. Just a thought.

One of the first disciplines a Sith or Jedi learns is how to construct a lightsaber. I doubt he would be carrying around a broken lightsaber. I don't know if Disney or whoever told them to toss the ignited lightsaber since he doesn't use it or if Hot Toys figured we wouldn't give a ****. Either way, they're both pretty freakin' far off the mark.

If they're willing to produce an entire figure, based off of a concept that didn't even occur in a film, then why can't we just get our Star Wars figures with damn lightsabers?

Pretty sure this is like the original Rey announcement.

Disney told HT if they revealed Vader this early that they'd have to do it without the ignited blade to keep the extent of his role in ROGUE ONE a mystery.

Like Rey, a few weeks after ROGUE ONE, they'll make an update announcement that shows he will indeed come with an ignited lightsaber.

That has to be the case I agree. I never imagined getting a Darth Vader figure without a lightsaber blade. Hopefully it indeed turns out like Rey and they reveal it after the movie. I can see them not revealing it now for spoiler reasons.

Yeah hopefully it's all a trick. We will see the film and vader will kill everyone with his lightsaber then a week later hot toys will add it to the figure

Yeah, definitely feels like it's suggesting something when you don't include it. Not clear which though. :lol

You include it and really nobody thinks about it.

That makes sense but Rey was scheduled for 5-6 months after TFA. Vader seems timed with the movie's release.

It may already be shipping with the blade but they just couldn't show or announce it (though then I guess the next thing will be, does it have a lighted arm?).

I think the release without the light saber is all part of marketing the hype train. They want people to talk about it......and what are we doing here in this forum....talking about it.
They'll announce the light saber just before release when everyone is at the peak of their hypedness and all the undecided and fence sitters will buy it. It'll be a mega sales tactic.
Hot Toys have been doing this for a bit. They know how sales and marketing works.

Vader figure arrival date is also after the film release, so they have plenty of time to add stuff after everyone has seen the movie and are mega hyped.

This is a somewhat off comparison, except in your last pic from Empire, because the looming Vader in the hot toys shot is reversed and Vader's helmet is not symmetrical...there's a better one for a comparison here

Btw I am sure there'll be a blade for his saber in the least...it doesn't matter whether or not he uses it in the film considering the 1/4 rots Vader never even revealed his lightsaber even if the hilt was on set during the star destroyer scene.
