I think the Vader looks great! Nothing will recapture my favorite version...the ESB version. And in the film they've already made changes to the stormtroopers, which have changed very little from ANH to ROTJ, whereas Vader changed a lot from ANH to ESB...so it should come to no surprise RO would make slight alterations to their OT Vader homage suit.

The one criticism I will say of the RO suit is that the aesthetic of the large boulder shoulders take away the "quiet strength" of the OT Vader and how that suit made him look intimidating. I always feel like Vader looked like a space samurai...I think that was the intention anyways. He was large, but didn't have to have overly hockey/football pad like shoulders...takes away from the samurai element. I think the suit is such an amazing design...the expressionless face, robe upon robe, the electronics...but has this feel of it being in space and technological, but somehow ancient. Anyways...I have no problem with the RO really, just stating that it misses the mark for me from being at the level of the OT suits.

I'm also going to bring up another Vader topic here: with all of this interest in the OT with this film...I wish more than anything that we could get an Obi-Wan Kenobi solo film. I really don't want to see someone else play Han Solo or Lando...but Ewan McGregor everyone knows was robbed of a really good film to utilize his amazing rendition of Kenobi. And if he has a solo film...who may show up? Yeah...Vader! Heck...I'd rather a Vader solo film than Solo. But Kenobi is ripe with potential...what did he do on Tattoione all those years, did he go on missions in between, go to Dagobah, encounter Vader.

I agree. McGregor is flawless Obi-Wan and he even wants to do that solo movie. I don't know why Disney did not pull the trigger ... like years ago.

I just can't agree with Vader in Obi solo movie. First thing - they can't encounter. Vader and Obi did not meet since Mustafar. Also Obi revealing himself to Vader doesn't make any sense. Vader would kill him instantly and maybe even follow him before that to his beloved Tatooine and find Luke. Obi would never do anything like that to risk everything. Second thing - if you have one major character you don't want anyone else to steal his movie.

My two cents of thoughts.

No very very true. Maybe if he was in it, Vader that is, he'd be trying to find Obi Wan using the force and perhaps Obi wan tries to mislead him. I don't know haha

They could always create a new inquisitor character to be the main antagonist. Perhaps Obi Wan goes on the run to draw the Sith away from Tatooine type thing.

The only way I would "include" Vader in an Obi film is if they take a scene from the Kenobi novel. Kenobi learns Vader survived when he sees Imperial Propaganda with his image in a bar and overhears patrons talking about the new enforcer called Vader. They have no idea who he is, but Kenobi knows... That would be an amazing scene to see McGregor in. The look of horror on his face would be chilling.

Rogue One starts about 20 years after ROTS and ends about 20 minutes before ANH starts.

Based on that, RO Vader should be about 99% ANH Vader and 1% ROTS Vader..:lol

Realistically, probably even further apart than that. I'd say 99.7% to 0.3% :lol

However, still technically between the two films as mentioned. The RotS component to me though should simply be the tunic underneath the armor, since we last saw him in RotS as such. So R1 Vader to me should basically be ANH Vader, just with the tunic under the armor.

Maybe, but I still would have expected them to get closer than they did. Especially when even amateurs on the RPF can put together a more convincing ANH Vader costume:

This is honestly because, I feel anyway, that filmmakers believe they can do better. That they can "fix" what they think are crappy , cheap suits from the OT. Just use modern materials and make it look like it did, it's not hard. Like you said, amateurs do it al the time.
