Re: Hot Toys Superman

i don't think Chris Superman will be have a TTA body, just look at the SR figure docent look bad, but what HT are doing this days ill bet this is going to be a custom body, your right about the whole Sideshow DC Direct thing so my money goes for a custom physic for Supes in spandex and TTA for CK.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

The returns figure :
1) was not a spandex suit, it's cotton
2) was not a TTA, or even a Narrow shoulder Truetype, it was a standard trutype with the bulkier chest. and the anatomicly incorrect shoulders.
Even then, he looks pretty good.

the ONLY figures who get specialized bodies with unique physique are ones who are intended to be displayed nude./ with those body parts exposed. Ontop of that, christopher reeve DID NOT have a Conan Physique, He was fit and toned, but not overly muscular.

I've got a TTA coming that I'm swapping a medicom Magneto over to. I'll post pictures when it arrives to show how a TTA looks with spandex stretched over it, and you'll , hopefully see what I'm talking about.

Trust me, it'll look fine, and it's what they are going to use.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Yea it is a DX which usually gets the good treatment, with all the good accessories, etc. Also Reeve's rib cage is something that stood out as a unique part of his physique. The rest of him may be on a some other kind of TT body, but I'm pretty sure he'll at least have the flexible rubber or whatever material it is that they used on wolverine and the T2 Arnold torsos

EDIT: also the T2 Arnold got that special torso piece and he alwas wears a shirt in the movie save the beginning when he's naked. So to say that it's only meant for figures who are meant to be displayed without a shirt is incorrect as T2 Arnold isn't meant to be displayed without the shirt, it was put on there so he could have the propper physique under the shirt

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Reeve was a tall guy, about 6'4". I'd like the figure to reflect that.

If he's standing next to Mech Test Tony he shouldn't be the same height.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

You have no way of knowing this. :lol

Could be a completely new body just for Superman.

You're quite correct, I don't. HOWEVER, i can make an educated guess based upon common sense, and hot toys history.

first and foremost, hot toys is a business, they are going to make decisions about what to produce based upon what will yield the biggest profit margin for them. They do go above and beyond the call when creating their figures, but they do not go about throwing money into unnecessary production.
Or to put it simply, "don't fix what isn't broke"

consider how "buff" reeve was in the movie
Lets look at some images.

/sarcasm
look at those bulging muscles, those rippling biceps, he's a regula Ahnold isn't he?
/sarcasm

saracasm aside, that physique is actually smaller than the TTA. so we might see some sort of hybrid of the Corrected shoulder, and the TTA, I'm not entirely certain.

My point is, there is no need to do an entirely new body, with his "unique physique" that you will never see because it's permanently covered by spandex.
Reeve's bodytype was in shape, average "hollywood" guy ( Han solo, Brad Pitt, etc, your average "fit" actor) . the tryutype does an excelent job of fitting that look already.

Now, I'll be honest, i would not be at all suprised to see a new "hybrid body" with, for example, a rubber-like upper torso with more detailed musculature, like wolverine has. but that's as "specialized" as i anticipate them to get.

Could I be incorrect in my opinionated guess? Yes. But I do not think i am.

I anticipate the R&D money to be spent instead on an extra head, and CK outfit.

Speaking of extra heads, that's why i do not think he will have a neck that is fused to the chest. I expect him to have the same neck as albert wesker, and have Light up "heat vision" eyes in addition to his PERS headsculpt.

Good point...I hope they will stick to the right dimensions.

Given hot toys history, I'll doubt it.

off the top of my head
Jack sparrow taller that Elizabeth swan
the bezerker predator Fiasco

They MIGHT give him the longer ankle pegs like they did with chris redfield and wesker, but they might not. no idea there.

This is no unnecessary production, and as they advertise "the first in his kind Christopher Reeve Superman"
So i don't think they will put a standard body on this guy except for the CK version, like i said before if this guy goes out for sale for 250.00 everybody without hesitating will go for it, heck i am of those that will buy it direct from HK i will not wait for an US store to get it!:dunno

When was the last time you saw a Chris reeve 12 inch figure? Mego "fly away action" back in 1978 so this will be special :wave

Re: Hot Toys Superman

I just want this figure to be able to do iconic poses i.e. hands on hips, running, flying, pointing up, hopefully, arms across chest.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Heh, 250$ everyone will go for it?
no thank you. at 250$ they can keep it.
i don't know about you, but where I am, the economy is ____, And I'm not paying that much of an inflated price for a toy. REGARDLESS of how awesome it may or may not be.
tops, I'm anticipating 180-200. The Bruce lee WITH the extra body is only 219, and as that's for basically 2 figures, it's acceptable.

IF he's more than 190, then it's going to be some serious consideration on my part.

and yes, I'm very much aware he likely will be.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Haven't all the DX's so far been under $200 MSRP? Good reason to assume this one will also come in under 200.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

This is one figure where price is not much of an issue for me (i want it to be as cheap as possible cause i'm poor ATM) But it's a grail figure for me, and i will obtain it no matter the cost.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

If its a DX it will be only at 180. The only reason the ghost rider is at 250 is because it came with a freakin bike! There's nothing this figure can come out with as accessories that would justify a 200+ price.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

so, all this opinion fighting aside, thoughts on what he's going to come with?
Accessories, i'm expecting everything that came with the Returns V2 superman, PLUS

1 set of Flying hands
1 Set gripping hands
Kryptonite, possibly on a chain
1 Superman PERS head
1 Clark kent PERS head ?
1 Light up Heatvision head ( HOPE)
unique Base ( rooftop? fortress?)
The green crystal
Crystal stand

anyone else?

Re: Hot Toys Superman

I'd really like multiple hands the more the merrier, and also the green crystal and fortress of solitude stand.

Re: Hot Toys Superman

if they give him as many accessories as the Bruce Lee DX, I'm assuming he'll cost about the same as Bruce Lee. If I was a Bruce Lee fan, I'd get the DX04 and am tempted too b/c it's such a nice figure all around, but I'm broke atm so I'm just saving for Superman.

as for accessories, I just hope that he comes with as many stuff as DX04. Many hands, extra clothes, a second head WITH PERS as well. Base, I'd want a fortress one similar to that of the CM Superman. That base just looks amazing with Reeve "floating" there

Re: Hot Toys Superman

Being the HUGE Christopher Reeve Superman fan that I am here is what I am hoping for:

1.) Superman PERS head sculpt
2.) Clark Kent PERS head sculpt with removable glasses and removable fedora hat. Yeah, he wore a fedora like Indy, just a darker color.
3.) Clark Kent outfit that fits over the Superman outfit. Just so you can pose him in the classic "open shirt" revealing the Superman "S" shield!
4.) Fortress Of Solitude base/figure stand with the crystal "control panel". Also this stand must be able to pose him in flying poses. Not just standing poses.
5.) Green crystal Clark threw in the snow that created the Fortress.
6.) Kryptonite on the chain to put around his neck.
7.) Two sets/pairs of hands for Superman (gripping pair, flat handed "flying" hands). Two pairs of hands for Clark (gripping pair, and one pair with his right hand holding a pencil, and the other hand open to hold a note pad.) Second normal pair of open hands. I agree, that the more pairs of hands in different poses...the better! :wave

I assume this should cost around the $180.00 price just like other HT DX figures have been so far. I'd gladly pay that much for it if this one hits the mark and comes with many accessories, and does look like Christopher Reeve! I have a feeling that this figure will. :)
