All sarcasm aside, I'm betting a lot of people who have this pre-ordered, including me, can see this statement as a summarization of their current feelings about this figure. When I saw this on SSC's site last week, I overlooked the price because the paint job looked absolutely out of this world. I get that the current crop of videos and pictures may not be doing this figure justice, but it looks NOTHING like the SSC promo shots, at least to me. I see very little translucency and for the most part see a flat(ish) black paint job that is no more or less impressive than what I've seen on other 1/6" IM figures (full disclosure: I'm relatively new to collecting these and have not seen as many as some of you have, I'm sure).

I am not cancelling my PO and will reserve final judgment until it's released, but my idea of this being maybe the most impressive paint app ever is seriously in question, at this point. I really hope the differences I'm seeing are in fact due to the photographic environment.

Bang on.

Part of me says if I saw these pics to begin with, I probably wouldn't have ordered it in the first place.

Having said that I still do like it.

Just remember, your shelf or detolf isnt a hot toys photo studio light box either... these pics are likely closer to what you guys will all actually look at on your shelves everyday.. food for thought
Yes, you are definitely correct. What bothers me is the range of difference. I'm OK with some quality variance as long as it is truly due to lighting, display environment, etc. I hope that is what is happening in this case, but the stark difference I see makes this look a lot more like a totally different figure, to me.

Yes; I can understand that! Speaking for myself, I would have had to seriously think about it and might not have PO'd because the recent pics and videos make it look so much more "run of the mill" than the promo shots.

I'm.... A little disappointed.

It's darker and has a lot less sheen than I was expecting/hoping.

I still like it a lot and wont cancel... But slightly disappointed. Looking forward to seein it in hand though!

:goodpost::exactly: If I don't like it in hand then I just sell it or trade.

I'm not worried. I was not impressed with the pics of Midas or Hot Rod but they have turned out to be a couple of my favorite figures because of a fantastic paint job that just did not photograph well. I'm sure this will be stunning in hand.

"Item shown is a prototype. When shipped, the final production piece may differ in appearance." Tada:horror

It's unfortunate that the display sample doesn't look as sleek and premium as the HT shots we were shown, but it may yet turn out to look approximately that way in the final product. Even if it doesn't, it's been my experience that black repaints of any type of armored/robotic figures rarely disappoint. As it will be my 2nd IM figure after Diecast MK III, and my first shot at a MK VII, I'm still very much looking forward to having it no matter how it turns out.

Now, to resist getting a MK 43 or MK 45...........

image.jpgIf you really look at those released pics of the proto you can see where it's matte and where its gloss. Especially this one.

Besides, if this is supposed to be a stealth suit, it really shouldn't be all shiney. Defeats the purpose.

I put in a PO because of how awesome the paint job looked. I wasn't expecting spray can black... I feel like I got catfished out of an NRD. I might just cancel and hope they get it right in a few years.

Kinda glad I didn't order. It still looks pretty cool, although nothing like the proto HT shots, lighting or other factors. It seems to have no gloss or sheen to it, just a matte finish. This is why I always prefer to wait to see in hand pics and comparison shots to other HT figures. If it wasn't an exclusive or promo I think he'd still be up for order. The biggest issue I had was the price, and after seeing this, I can't see the justification in a $339.99. Orig MK7 $250, MK7BD $295, MK21 (Midas) $299, MK7 Stealth $340. To those that like it congrats.. I'm just too picky, don't want or need them all. :)

This pic is what's alarming. Doesn't even look like the same figure.

The pic on the right looks like it's been microwaved for crying out loud!

This is why I'm glad I didn't order too. Looks very weak in comparison to proto.

If it looks bad in hand, I think I'll just sell it and use the funds towards the 1/4 Mark 43.
Assuming there's anywhere with stock of that by the time this drops in September time onward (or was the eta later... can't remember)

Think that's a general concensus, I wonder though; for anyone here who have seen this in person (maybe only Budget Stark) how does it live up to the HT promo shots (wish people would stop saying they are SSC promos they had nothing to do with them) when viewed with the Mark 1.0 eye ball vs a photo viewed on the device of our choice?

As a couple of people have pointed out this set up could emulate most of our detolf shelves in terms of lighting etc so it would be interesting to hear some first hand impressions.

I am totally agree. I am not impressed. I am not feeling it AT ALL. Maybe it's the camera and environment, but even because of those factors, it's still too far off from what I see in the prototype photo in Sideshow. I don't feel the amount of reflection, shininess and Blue-ish in it anymore. Since I already pre-ordered, I'll wait till I see the in-hand photo, but I doubt it would look any different. I could be easily not ordering this if I see the pictures from the event before they have it for pre-order. Plus this figure is expensive too and I already used the points too. This is not going too well at all.
