No it's not the expression for me, it's definitely the cowl sculpt. Parts of the sculpt are okay, but the shape is wrong, it's to long and just a let down for me overall. Just like with the Joker if I get this one in hand and it changes my mind, I'll have no problem admitting I was wrong. I just don't think that'll be the case since I went through this with the Joker from proto pics up until the release. It was bad in pics and even worse in person.

Baring facial expression aside, if this screen cap still doesn't shows how accurate the new sculpt is, I don't know what else will.

I'm with you with this one. It seem spot on to me. Some angles of the cowl seems a completely different cowl. it happened in Begins too. Tha last scene seems Bale is wearing a different cowl. I guess it's a matter of lightning and filming. At superherohype foruns there are still a discussion concerning three types of cowls: the big nose (one front pic in the last page), the bulb head and the "good" cowl we all agree is amazing, the one from most promo pics and usually as seen in the movie itself. To me is a question of angle and light/shadow. I remember a few pics of the begins cowl from the film that makes this year's HT figures way wrong. But for most of all, it's perfect. We must wait for good pics covering various angles. To me it seems an homerun.

I am glad we finally got some production pics.

As longs as I'm getting him and he looks like that I'm happy!

Hot damn, you folks just need to pick the HT or the Medicom one and give it a rest!!!

One thing HT hasn't been getting right on their Batmans is the cowl head width from a frontal view. The Begins cowl is minimally off, but that's what leads to the long neck scare, front on if the head were a little fatter the neck wouldn't look too tall cuz if you look at his profile the neck looks fine. The Begins 1/4 bust is really slender, which is too bad, it's a nice sculpt but definitely not the right fatness. TDK cowl is a bit too slender and maybe not a wide enough nose.

That said, I've never been much a fan of the TDK suit design and always liked HT's figure because of the artistic liberties it took and I'm happy with how the cowl looks, especially as seen in the moody Pod shots. This figure is going to be a blast to make photos and things with as I hoped it would, I can't wait to get it.

Damn, Bale really did look ridiculous in the new suit. After TDK came out, I was walking through Target with a friend who isn't a toy collector, but recently saw the film. I pointed out the Mattel 12" Batman, and he was quick to say that Christian Bale's did not look that bad ass in real life. He said the costume made him look cute with chipmunk cheeks, and I had to agree. He then pointed to the Mattel Super Friends figure and said that looks closer to what he saw on film. I couldn't help but laugh....

Your buddy was right! Bale often looked ridiculous with that new cowl in TDK.

Overall, I'm really digging the new touches...

The cape is a tough one since there were varying lengths in the film. I believe he has a shorter cape for riding the batpod.

I think the cowl is getting much better and I will be more than happy to have it in hand. That being said, it looks the it could be a little bigger (i.e. thicker) to make it more helmet like. This version is pretty damn close though.

I think the whole figure is going look amazing in hand... Many of the shots we've seen have been from low angles... I cannot wait to see more that are from above and that tilt the head forward a bit. Even the Original Suit Version got better when you tilted the head forward.

Can't wait to see more pics!!

Good figure. Improvements are nice - better sculpt (not perfect, but what is?), better legs, thinner.

What else ya want?

This thread shot up 15 pages since I last checked last night (3am or so), and most of it fairly pointless.

Sooooo is this a thread about Hot Toys TDK figure or about likes/dislikes of Batman TDK suit? If so, I'm leaving... I quited this debate in July...

So does that mean you like what HT has done with the movie cowl?

Honestly, it does look like an impovempent, but I wouldn't buy it, just because I'm not a fan of the new suit. However, if HT did do a V2 with light up eyes, I might consider it.

I watched the movies five times, enough time to be able to tell that the DK cowl can look really different in different scenes and different lighting condition.

If you must have a pic, the one that comes to mind is the cover of July American Cinematographer. When I saw this latest HT pic, that's the pic that crossed my mind.

I don't know if this is what you were referring to, but when I saw the new HT pic, this is what I thought of:

I'm loving the improvements. Can't wait to get mine!

Waiting on new Medicom pics, but HT did a good job. Not the best I've seen, but a lot of work went into it obviously.

The funny thing is the Begins sculpt isn't 100% accurate either.

Look at the photos. Movie and promo. Lighting and angle changes the look drastically.

How the hell could you call one shot with him looking straight ahead and another shot with his chin on his chest looking ahead, and dark photos to very brightly lit photos a comparison?

For Pete's sake people!!!
It's amazing, and I thought SW fans were nit-pickers!!
Everybody keeps telling how inaccurate this figure is, yet everybody seems to have it in pre-order, has the world gone mad??!!!
