Yeah, am I the only one who doesn't get this?

Someone suggested using the Michael Jackson TrueType body for Wolverine, probably not realizing that it's much slimmer so the cartoon is a joke that Wolverine would look like a stick on the slim body of MJ.

Cheers for clearing that up for me :peace

fascinating body design. hybrid muscle/regular? there are clearly elbow joints.....

i'm gonna guess rubber upper amrs, plastic lower arms, with internal upper amrs like dutch had.

Yeah its a new body so its definitely hybrid of the previous stuff....I wonder if this is a precursor to Dr. Manhattan?

As for Wolvie, I think we'll get a Military Wolverine with bone claws, Sabretooth and Deadpool in this line still.

I hope at least Sabertooth, though the promise of X-Men trilogy figures now has me ok if Wolverine is the only Origins figure, but I would like a Schreiber Sabertooth much more than a Tyler Mane.

I hope Wolverine isn't the only figure in the lineup. A Sabertooth and Deadpool would be awesome. I do not know if HT ever released a line with a single figure. Even The Spirit and Hellboy got more than one figure.

I didn't mean the exact same body, but rather one like it. Instead, it could have been a modified TrueType with more muscular arms

Whatever body it is, they should package it and sell it. It would sell well no doubt and would help them recoup the money that went into R&D&M for a brand new body just for a single character (for now). Hot Toys are always so good at that, it's commendable. They could have been lazy and thrown Wolvie on a regular muscle body, but no.

That body seems aesthetically pleasing and is a fair compromise between looks and articulation. It'd work well for those who want a slightly leaner muscle body without the full body rubber sheath.

Sell it separately, HT!

selling it separately is great actually so you can put it on other custom figures that need a body like that (of course we still need Wolvie to be complete with body in box :lol)

Actually i believe the new Resident Evil Wesker's (both of them) are using this body as well, as he seems to have solid muscled but jointed arms.

I don' think so. He isn't hairy. He just has sculpted forearms I think. Thriller MJ is using the same arms as Wesker though I think.

Considering how long it took from tease to announcement to actual viewing of the figure, its possible that Wolverine was supposed to be released before Wesker and that he (Wesker) was supposed to be number 2 on that body, even though they are saying its a brand new body to Wolverine. Depending on how extensive the alterations are mixing the muscle body with the standard TrueType we might see what will later become the body for Dr. Manhattan, Human Torch, Silver Surfer or anyone else that needs exposed parts. I would guarantee that this will be retooled for their eventual Thor depending on how big Chris Hemsworth gets by the time it starts shooting.

I still don't understand - is this body, for instance, like Hellboy's (rubber muscle body) or is it sculpted (plastic muscle body) ?

It's a little hard to be certain just yet.

Based on the picture from the show, there's definitely an elbow joint. Current theory is HT's evolving their use of muscle bodies and have deveolped a new body that usese muscle features wherever possible while still using joints where necessary, so the overall will look better but posability won't be totally lost.

I think it's just a solid plastic body with the pieces sculpted to shape muscles rather than part rubber muscles and part normal plastic, but we won't know for sure until official images surface or sharp photos of the image at the con display show up.

Seems sculpted plastic, hence why its jointed at the elbow. Think more like Enterbay's bruce lee body, sculpted to be a human form and jointed, like Marvel Legends but much more aesthetically pleasing. Looking at pics i think munch is right its not the same as weskers, but it his and MJ are sharing similar design concepts of these new realistically sculpted human parts on the under bodies for arms that show.

Which i like, adds more realism to figures that have revealed arms, always hated blank looking base bodies if they had visible arms, especially sideshow bucks guh...

It is a smart route to take.

Though I am curious how much it will or won't change the level of articulation the standard TT's have, and if it does hinder, will parts be swappable, so say like a figure such as MJ where it's just the neck and forearms showing, can you get a TT where the sculpted, textured neck is there and the forearm pieces, but the upper arm is standard TT so all the previous articulation available is still there.

If I was designing a hard plastic body to have more natural, human forms, that's how I'd go, because depending on costuming and such, it isn't always needed, or not all of it, so if it's modular, you can always make the body for each figure the best possible option.

I also like it because I worry about the rubber figures I have. So far I haven't had an issue and I've had one Rambo from HT for years and no issues, but I still would prefer not to use the material unless it's case where absolutely necessary.

Well Im disappointed that it is using a single elbow joint. The Albert Wesker figure has a similar sculpted body yet it has double jointed elbows. I guess they decided the the double joint throws off the look. But I would have preferred the extra articulation. I guess I'll just have to buy second Wesker body.
