It is a smart route to take.
Though I am curious how much it will or won't change the level of articulation the standard TT's have, and if it does hinder, will parts be swappable, so say like a figure such as MJ where it's just the neck and forearms showing, can you get a TT where the sculpted, textured neck is there and the forearm pieces, but the upper arm is standard TT so all the previous articulation available is still there.
If I was designing a hard plastic body to have more natural, human forms, that's how I'd go, because depending on costuming and such, it isn't always needed, or not all of it, so if it's modular, you can always make the body for each figure the best possible option.
I also like it because I worry about the rubber figures I have. So far I haven't had an issue and I've had one Rambo from HT for years and no issues, but I still would prefer not to use the material unless it's case where absolutely necessary.
