I honestly think there will not be a DX of Wolverine.

I agree. I think they're saving DX figures for the big shots. Joker,Batman,Rocky,Rambo. I think they might even do a Godfather. Wolverine just doesn't have enough pull to get a dx figure imo. Wolverine's one of my favorite comic heroe's but I don't see this happening.

Boo!

:)

I think Wolvie's popularity is up there with Bats and certainly Rocky+Rambo. The only thing I would say against there being a DX version is that Hot Toys will probably try and get Wolvie as correct as possible this time around so there won't be a need to revisit him for a DX treatment.

I prefer the civilian clothes over the X-uniform, so I'm hoping they'll make the X-Men movie version with the plain clothes and pointy hair. Otherwise I'll have to bite the bullet and shell out the dough for this one.

a repaint or two and he looks just like Hugh/wolverine

Origins Wolverine, I agree, X-Men trilogy, perhaps not. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that the X2 and X3 suits are the same, X1 was definitely different from 2 and 3 though. They could do a trilogy Wolverine DX to have both costumes, maybe even a 3rd Logan costume, though we're getting those clothes with the origin figure, add some PERS and all.

That's the only way I see a DX happening though, Wolverine's not a big accessories figure so you'd have to make it like a 2 or 3 in 1 set pack to justify it really, that or include a 1/6 version of the tub he's made in with the adimantium but I really don't see that happening.

I'm not too much of a fan of the Medi version. I love the Hot Toys version and I hope I'll be able to get him. I just hate the idea of going out on a financial limb for this version only to have something more elaborate and desirable down the line. But that's just the nature of the hobby!

Well, I don't think you'll get a more elaborate Origins Wolverine, despite people's opinions, the hair on the portrait for this figure is accurrate to Origins, he didn't have the Wolverine style in that movie. They gave the figure the primary costume, certainly the one he wore the longest in the movie, so I think this figure pretty much wraps it up, maybe one other from earlier in the movie with the bone claws, not sure which costume they'd use, military uniform or lumberjack outfit from when his wife is killed, but I don't see a DX from Origins.

I also don't think we'll see a casual Wolverine from the Trilogy, he pretty much has that outfit with this origins figure, so I figure they'll just go on the marketing idea that you can pop the head off a trilogy Wolverine and put it onto the origins figure to get a Logan from the Trilogy, they want people to buy all the figures.

Really good points. I do not believe another Wolverine is forthcoming from XMO. Wolverine has limited accessories / clothing changes. What is there to add but bone claws and perhaps a rage sculpt? The product descscription stated a second set of hands are included which could eliminate the bone claws. A second sculpt is really a collector's preferance but not worth a totally new XMO figure. Until the trilogy figs come out, I believe this is the one and only Woverine for us to enjoy.

rage face if V2 is ever released please

Rage face with pointy hair will be the second sculpt with the trilogy version. The collectors wishing the XMO sculpt had the classic Wolverine look can then swap XMO sculpt for XMT rage sculpt with pointy hair. HT sells another figure and collector's get their ultimate Wolverine. Problem solved.:D

Yes you are correct. The X2 and X3 Wolverine costumes were identical. I believe some of the X3 suits were leftovers from the X2 shoot.

The X-Men 1 suit tried to mimic the Tiger Stripe look with orange piping and the X2/X3 suits had a large x across the chest with yellow piping.

Actually the X2/3 suit mimicked his tigerstripe much better because it actually had the appropriate spikes on the suit, two on the top of his chest, and 3 spikes on each side of his abdomen.

The X1 suit was more or less a bland attempt at giving you some sort of look of it, but barely at that, because it was technically not even his suit, it was a spare suit one of cyclops or another mutant that was no longer with them. The X2/3 suit was obviously intended to be for him.

As for the rest of the team, all the guys used the same cyclops standard suit just with different colored piping (except for beast), as the girls used the same suits again with different colors, and storm having the cape. So you could get alot of mileage out of one suit pattern and design work.

I really hope the first or only trilogy Wolvering in X suit is the X2/3 version, I really didn't like his costume in the first one, I really liked the style they came up with for 2 and 3.

I have to disagree. Considering the make up of the Tiger Stripe suit:

Where the chest is "plain" and you have the destinctive striping.

Now take a look at X1:

Plain chest and distinctive striping.

Now look at X2:

While the striping is still there, the large "X" in the chest really takes away from even noticing the striping on first glance and I feel was the costumer's attempt to combine the two looks of the classic tiger stripes and leather look while in X1 they were trying to mimic it. In X2 the additional piping even separates the stripes to the point where they can be missed other than the shoulder striping which was more pronounced.

I have to disagree with your disagreeing mike.

The X1 suit smacked of a leather suit, with a bland attempt at giving some semblance of his tigerstripe, but nothing to obvious because they wanted to keep it a leather and somewhat tactical looking suit. Hence why his top stripes end in buckles, or some other form of metal clasp, and aren't pointed in any way, and just stand out as weird raised bands, and his side stripes are actually proper spikes, but theres only two of them on each side, not three, which, is what the X2 suit has:
x2wolvsuit.jpg

Not only does it have the proper three pronged spike pattern, but also the top stripes end in spikes (at least on the front). They also broke them up from the rest of the suit via the material that makes up the pattern, the side stripes having the ribbed material, the top stripes having the soft velvet material, in comparison to the overall leather look which the giant X has thus blending it with the rest of the suit).

I don't deny that it was their attempt to mix both his tigerstripe and the X style uniform, but i still stand by that it showcases his tigerstripe style and his uniqueness, better than his V1 suit, which came off as a stiff, to slim, awkward one piece leather jump suit, with some random spikes on his sides and weird strap things on his torso....

I never liked the original suit and always felt it was very lamely done, because their focus was more on just giving them leather suits, with maybe some hint of their original style, the second film really felt like effort was put in, yes its a mix, but its a well done mix, showcasing both his classic style, but with a modern X uniform look. It's why that suit happens to be my favorite, and also it just looks much cooler than the first one.

I mean for a figure, the first suit being one piece limits his movement if they want to keep it accurate, and it makes him look awkward (as he does in the film). The second suit is much better, both in style and look, and accentuates his physique making him look more like a superhero and less like a scrawny Australian and leather...

BUT thats my opinion, and if you like the v1 suit, more power to you, if Hot Toys treats this license like batman we'll probably see multiple wolverines and that suit is one of the obvious options outside of the X2 suit, naked Weapon X, or other forms of his past from origins, theres not much else to do for the X-Films themselves since the origins logan pretty much covers his civilian look from those films as well.

Even though I'm getting this figure, I still wish they would include a battle damaged head exposing some adamantium and some extra bone claw hands (I personal would only use them with a kitbash)

What is the general opinion on this thread about the X-men origins Wolverine? With HT's announcement I'm on the fence whether I should keep my pre order or just wait for the X- trilogy costumed Wolverine.
