that movie looks great! it really does.

And I know they could be acting...given that they are all amazing actors... but the cast looks generally happy with the product in a way that Hugo Weaving, Mickey Rourke, etc havent on previous incarnations of marvel movies

I wouldn't say they owe him as he has been very well compensated, and this has also been the vehicle that made him relevant again.
Very mutually advantageous.

Its been a great deal for both no doubt. I do think Marvel needs to make sure they pony up the cash to their main guys and keep them as long as they can. Ride the wave before it crashes.

Yeah when something is working you don't screw with it especially when they can afford it.

RDJ/Marvel together have been one of the great success stories of Hollywood.

Only when both were combined did we get Reeses Peanut Butter cups to enjoy.

RDJ is the only reason people give a **** about Iron Man.

Pretty much. I have been an IM fan my whole life and there are great things about the character. But he was considered a b-grade character by the public at large before. And when he was cast I was incredibly excited... but to see the results? Magic. All kinds of things sound good on paper but aren't great on screen. But Tony Stark and RDJ are lightning in a bottle.

From exclusive twenty minutes showing and "A Thousand Iron Men" flash mob (pics are not mine):

Pretty cool event, tho I was hopping for a short autograph session.

. . .

There was four or five different scenes from which it's impossible to understand the whole plot.
In fact you all saw some of 'em briefly in trailers.

I have mixed feelings so far...

1. Action scenes (at least those three we saw) delivers mediocre, with a torn camera work and very chaotic editing. Although, of course, they do slip some interesting visual features

2. As many have noted, it feels very much like 'That Dark Idiot Rises" especially with the way of Mandarin character delivery (Bane like). However this film has all the chances to go on the same way without stepping on his own rakes

3. Brian Tyler's score... Typical Brian Tyler's score - melodic stream which sometimes turns into a waterfall but for the most part is quiet flowing.

:lol :lol :lol

hey, if my wife can love him so can I dammit. :lol (that dude is just a cool cat no matter how you slice it.)

she really likes that movie 300 for some odd reason. :lol

The design of the armor and the cool cgi techniques in the helmet really helped Iron Man look so much better than he ever did in the comics. RDJ added a layer of humor and intelligence to Stark that made him infinitely more interesting as a character. It was a perfect storm and a permanent upgrade to "A" status.
