With the announcement of another villain, I'm starting to wonder if this movie won't be a combination of Extremis and Armor Wars. Which means a lot of these villains wouldn't have a ton of screen time.

It could work very well.

I'm sure Sony felt the same when they kept adding villains to Spider-Man 3. :monkey1

I didn't think the Extremis series was perfect. It seems more like a starting point for a film than something they would do a straight adaptation.
Tony fought a flesh and blood guy (moddified by the extremis serum) and gets his butt kicked. No sir, I didn't like it.

Tony uses the Extremis serum and gains actual superpowers... I think it could be seen as a jump the shark moment for movie goers.

I don't like floating armor. The suit-up gantry stuff works much better on film.

I don't want to see Tony Stark (movie version) get super powers. Especially after his line to Captain America about everything special about him coming out of a bottle. Iron Man is the one Avenger (of the big four) who doesn't have some sort of power and relies upon his intellect/technology. That's who he is, and giving him powers beyond that would take away what makes the character special. He's the tech genius, not the guy with super strength, speed or healing powers.

I think the BE armor would look pretty damn cool on screen. I like what I'm reading about iron man 3. :rock

People think Spider-man 3 didn't work because of all the villains. I don't think that's the case. It's HOW you use the villains. The split focus was what made that movie weak. If some of these armored guys are just quick fights then it'd be fine.

Quite simply, there was too much going on for even a great director like Raimi to fix. You lose the audience when you dilute the threat the protagonist has to face vs. developing the threat and letting it all play out and bringing the audience along for the ride. While good writing can make it an interesting movie, it'll be far from the "epic follow-up" they're expecting post Avengers. And the sad thing is, the budgets of the other heroes' movies will be entirely dependent on this.

I'm not exactly excited for what I've been hearing about this movie so far, to be honest. I'll be there in the theater when it's released and hope for the best, but call me a skeptic.

Coming Soon posted something interesting.

possible SPOILERS:

ComingSoon says the red, white and blue 'Iron Patriot' armor will be in the film, though we don't know if it will be worn by Tony Stark, Rhodey or someone else. The Armor appeared in the wake of Marvel's Secret Invasion storyline and was originally worn by Norman Osborn as a suit meant to reflect both Iron Man and Captain America. Marvel Studios can't use Osborn (he's at Sony, with the Spider-Man rights package) so if CS is correct and the armor is in the film, some other character will have to wear it.

Another possible SPOILER from Latino Review:

Latino Review says it can confirm that "The Mandarin is played by Ben Kingsley and [is] a villain in the movie despite Marvel's continued insistence that he's not."

The site also says that Kingsley isn't the primary, or the most active baddie in the film. That's Guy Pearce, who we know is playing Aldrich Killian. He's backed by the Mandarin, but the real architect of the nanotech 'Extremis army' that will include Coldblood (Dale) and Firepower (Hamilton).

LR is pretty confident about this info, and the site was among the first to report that Loki was the villain in THE AVENGERS even as Marvel denied it.

Both were taken from Slashfilm.

saw this at CBM

According to SHH the Iron Patriot armor will be making its way to the big screen in Iron Man 3. The Armor was first seen in 2009's Dark Avengers comics following the events of Secret Invasion. In the comics Norman Osbourne is the first to put the Iron Patriot armor on, but with Sony owning the rights to pretty much everything Spider-Man related that rules this particular villain out. Thanks to a heads up from WolvieCBM these pictures were also spotted from the set of Iron Man 3 that shows actor James Badge Dale wearing the armor.

Iron Patriot is yonna be damn cool to see on screen and I already can't wait to get the ht figure.

WOW! IP looks freaking awesome!

I was hoping Justin Hammer would make a return, but I guess the movie looks to be busting at the seams with baddies.

Nah, they're going to regular release something like that and make as much money off of it as possible. :lol

Don't they make more money off of overpricing a Con ex, inferring it's a rarity and causing fanboys to pee themselves while forking out cash hand over fist in an effort to secure one? :lol
