I was reading that Gwyneth wants a "Rescue" movie spin off.

Was she that good in IM3?

I don't think so. I'd imagine if this got approved it would be for an animated movie. I just don't see a live action movie about Pepper Potts' new abilities being anything anybody would be willing to line up for....of course I felt the same way when people were talking about a Black Widow movie.

Thanks for that bit of info Josh. I might have to back and read those.

No problem. Its was a fun arc to follow I think.

Here's a link: Bleeding Edge Armor

Edit: I was wrong he does have to get something placed back into his chest after he goes into a coma and about dies. I forgot that. I can't recall if the nano tech just covers it while he's not in the suit. I'm gonna have to backtrack.

Pepper shouldn't have been cure imo. Friends and relatives getting powers is almost comic book stable. Look at Flash thompson.

Her getting Extremis and then cured twenty mintues later just made me think what was the point.

Does anyone think that they just took the shards out but the he keeps the reactor? That way they just power the suits? Even if they go BE type suits.

Well, it's not THAT kind of a twist. It's just a plot twist. It's fun. You'll never experience it again, but you can still appreciate what you felt.

I don't see how it's a gimmick, as it's played into the story and Killian's plan. Kill the President, grab Trevor, bingo. He's famous. He's the biggest. He'd be bigger then Tony Stark every would. I just think people are mad they were jipped out of a Ben Kingsly villain. Which, could've been fine...but unless he got into an Iron Man suit, I have no idea what the final battle with him could've been.

They could have done the comic book mandarain, with his "magic" rings.

and with thor, we've already established that "magic" exists, and it's just SUPREMELY advanced science. That was SPECIFICLY the reason we never saw mandarin BEFORE they did thor, as The studio wanted to see how the "magic as advanced science" bit played with auidences. Fairvew had talked SPECIFICLY about that in previous interviews. Would have worked great, becuase even in the comics, i think the Rings are now just weird as hell alien technology anyways. Irritates the crap out of me the new director dropped that angle.

Don't know, but i'm not certian it would work as a stand alone. I'd rather her take over the "femme fatale" role that Scarjo/Black widow filled in IM2 as Rescue for a while first. So we end up with three "armored" heroes in the Iron man movies.

Tony Stark/Iron Man
James Rhoads/ War Machine
Pepper Potts/ Rescue

THEN if it works, give her a shot.

I don't know what Iron Man did that wasn't already established. But before you tell me, you have to take in account where he is at this moment. He's a man who thought he was the greatest, but realizes he's nothing after seeing Thor, Cap, and The Hulk. He's just a man in a can.

So his priorities are going to be different. Hence his constant tinkering, his over production of suits for anything the universe could possibly throw at him, and his new "powers"...which he took from his little watch device in The Avengers.

He became a different character. He grew. It was nice to see.

Ok I have to ask about Killian's plan. Was it about being better and bigger then Stark. I never felt that they explained his motive other then he was jilted by Tony so many years ago and like any good bad guy he just wanted power. Just wondering.

And you are right about the twist "You'll never experience it again, but you can still appreciate what you felt."

There was never a moment in film that I can think of where you could see the "jumping of the shark" so clearly. Perhaps the idea was not bad but the Fart joke execution was.

Yes it does. It's all connected. The fact that Thor exists makes Stark feel useless and unimportant.

Is this ever mentioned in the film?? Or are people assuming that is how he felt. I mean he is having panic attacks about almost dying (which in itself is stupid since he suffered from many near death moments) The whole point to his PTSD is his brush with death in the worm hole. He never talks about feeling small useless and unimportant. People are still treating him like a hero.

I have heard this point from a few members but none of this behavior adds up.

I mean are you saying that the fact he was almost killed by a worm hole created by an product of a god makes made him feel more scared by death then a bomb blowing up in his face or having his chest piece removed or almost dying of blood contamination??

I mean He knew everyone but thor was already out there. He damn near begged to see the Hulk.

Like I said it just don't add up.

I think it's just people drawing their own conclusions. His ego was pretty grandiose, but in the Avengers he found out that he wasn't the baddest kid at the playground after all.

Cool. Thanks. I wonder of a future IM movie or Avengers 2 will address your edit.

What was the purpose of this movie other than to make a billion?

IM1, origin plus build up to Avengers.
IM2, WM origin plus build up to Avengers.
Cap 1, origin, build up to Avengers.
Thor 1, origin, build up to Avengers.
TIH doesn't count. :lol

IM3, cure his PTSD, what. :dunno

I wanted a build up to Avengers 2, not another Hammer jealousy villain and a kid I forgot about already.

@JAWS

He went toe to toe with Thor so i don't think he felt inferior as Iron Man but things like him being bigger in this movie, him doing pullups, striving to prove himself without the armour gave the impression he felt weaker as Tony Stark compared to Cap and Thor.

Kind stupid since no one would expect him to stand beside Super Soldiers or Gods in battle, he's got the Armour and that increases his abilities one hundred fold

No problem. They probably go with some kind of armor that for each one is powered by its own reactor built into it. They might even go bleeding edge that when forming the armor on his body creates its own reactor.

He found that out in IM2 when his own tech was killing him. When he wasn't allowed out of his own house and he also got to heal himself based on closure with his father.

I would think a trained pro doctor coming in and saying

"Mr. Stark. You have 4 months to live and there is NO way to save you, you are going to die." would be a bit more stressful than, I'm alive and completely ok and we won and now theres Gods and Super Soldiers and a whole government subdivision with a flying aircraft carrier on the good guy team too so the world doesn't have to rely on only me.
