The suit looks okay, not the best look for IM, but we're not going to see them standing still for too long to worry about it either. A good story and a well directed film will always trump costume design unless it's Schumacher bad. The IM films have proven that it's not so much how good the suit looks, but what it does. Really looking forward to Kingsley's Mandarin. He'll be a very hard act to follow.

Ben Kingsley is officially the 'Go To' actor in Hollywood when they need someone to play an Asian man. :rock

Remember, China makes a huge size of the film market now. Can't play on stereotypes that might piss off their censors...:slap

I heard the bad guys in the Red Dawn remake were change from China to North Korea in POST production for that very reason. No reason to piss China off when North Korea will be pissed at us anyway :lol

That's because he is Asian he's from India. That's like saying Pacino and deniro are hollywood goto Italians.

Uh.. there's a big difference between "Asian" and "Indian" when it comes to ethnicity. Pacino and Deniro play Italians mostly because they ARE Italian. Ben Kingsley isn't Asian. He's Indian and White. With that said, I have no problem with him playing Asian guys. :lol

Hey, If Katharine Hepburn could do it.... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036777/

I loved the look of the trailer, hope it delivers!

"Mandarin"s would be of Chinese origin, at least you'd think so by the name. Is Hollywood fresh out of Chinese guys? I can think of a bunch right off the bat.

Would China be offended by a Chinese villain? If I were them I'd be all "AWESOME, look how badass we Chinese are, represent in IM3!"

Perhaps not, I dunno. I didn't see Scandinavians upset over Nordic gods being in Thor, and some of them being villains. Why would they be, it was awesome.

I am not really a fan of casting against type. This is not far off from casting Blade as an Arab guy - hey, they're from the African continent, so what's the dif, right?

There's a big difference if you ask me. Black guys should be represented on screen by... actual black guys, Chinese guys should be represented by Chinese actors - or at the very least, Far Eastern guys. I admit to old-school-itude on this issue.

Not UPSET by this casting choice, not boycotting the film or anything like that - it'd just be nice to stay true to type.

I don't know what's stranger casting: Liam Neeson as the Arab Ra's Al Ghul, or Ben Kingsley as Mr. Mandarin Oranges.

Actually when I saw the Starkcave get blown up, I thought of this first:

... you know, his shoes just don't match the rest of his outfit, its distracting. I expect more from Riddler for some reason, especially one as... fashion-conscious as the Carey version seemed to be. :snake

The destruction of everything the hero holds dear is a worn trope in these type movies, but I will enjoy nonetheless. Hopefully Mandarin will wear appropriate footwear for his foray into madness.

I think Marvel wanted to de-racialize the Mandarin character. So instead of the Mandarin in the MCU being chinese they went with Kingsley playing the character as a mish-mash of different ideologies instead of one cultural background. It makes sense. It modernizes the themes if you ask me.

It's kinda the opposite of casting Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury if you think about it.
