Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I've only played 1-3 SC. They were always more "believable" in animation and in use than MGS. No cardboard boxes, no twitchy quick animations, and clunky combat. It doesn't take an animation expert to see that the animating and elements in SC was in general, more believable.

I like things that take skill, MGS was one of those games where it uses funky controls as a substitute for skill.

Forget for a moment all the funky paraphernalia on MGS, like cardboard boxes and playboy magazines :lol

Clunky combat in MGS? Dude it requires a lot of skill to master every CQC move and apply it on the field, and anyone who practices any kind of personal defense system can tell you how realistic CQC is, I don't remember going through a learning curve in any SC game I've played, and the animations are also better IMO, mainly cause SC 1-3 are very rudimentary, I think MGS4 and conviction animations are both on par, but the stealth isn't.

But just the AI on SC has always been below more recent MGS games.

Except PW.... lol

That extended trailer was pretty disturbing, by series standards. I like the way this is going.

Was that Paz? I hope it's not Paz.

I think it is Paz. Whatever was extracted from her stomach had the "Peace" sign from Peace Walker - and not to mention, that Paz means Peace. It seems like a very subtle way of telling us the identity of the character.

Right, that makes sense. Very gory that scene, but she undoubtedly survives, I'm sure.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

She looked young to be Paz, and kinda looked like a boy in this trailer didn't S/he?

Cause Paz already had ****s and everything on PW.

"Burning with Revenge. In Outer Heaven. Men become demons."

The last sentence from the trailer (that I highlighted above) has me wondering something. What if it's the case that the shrapnel that's lodged into Big Boss's head, has a neurological effect that changes his personality - gradually turning him evil? See the picture below.

As it stands in the current MGS games, Big Boss is regarded as a hero. But, that has to change in order to stay true to the canon from the Solid Snake games. It's interesting to note, that Miller referred to Big Boss as a "monster" in Metal Gear 1.

You could be right about that. But is the piece of shrapnel in his brain? Can an object in your brain change your entire personality?

I think the shrapnel has to be in his brain, and most likely in a very dangerous position, too - since the doctors were unable to remove it.

Great point. I wouldn't want to walk around with a clump of metal sticking out of my forehead :lol

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Why not just magnetize the shrapnel and have Huey built a robotic armor for him?

Absolutely. In fact all we know abut the brain has come from accidents in where people brains have been damaged. The most famous case, which kicked it all off, was a coal minor who was in an explosion got a chunk of wood through his head. He survived but it completely changed his personality.
From the looks of the trailer BigBoss' personality hasn't changed, im thinking something huge happens in the story. I cant imagine what though since he seems like a good guy. Diamond Dogs does look like its funded through blood diamonds, but BigBoss seems like a guy who would stop it. Miller seems like hes turning to a villain more than anything.

What i wanna know is how he gets rid of all the scars? Also that shrapnel i think is actually black diamond, which the trailer kinda implies. If thats the case maybe thats where he gets the money to start Outer Heavan lol

Blood diamonds is a good theory, but that would mean the story goes to Africa at some point wouldn't it?

I mean it's a given that an object in a brain can cause brain damage, but I didn't know it can be pretty benign in a person's head and in turn change a persons mood.

I guess it has to do with chemical changes and or misfires from that part of the brain.

Miller is definitely looking like a dictator in the trailer. I wonder why Huey was being tortured.

I think the part I enjoyed the most was seeing Ocelot do his interrogation thing.

And Big Boss is still a pretty rich man, didn't get get funds from Gene? It's been awhile since I played MPO.

But the person they extracted the package off had a body of a slim girl.. well anatomically speaking that is.. hmnn i dunno.. im gonna watch it again to take a closer look...

Im quite certain the game goes to Africa. It does have all those african child soldiers and diamonds in the trailer. Im also sure It'll end with BB creating OuterHeaven. Im starting to feel like this is the end of the BigBoss saga, thank goodeness. And by the looks of it it may be a great ending (better than MGS4 anyway)

So it looks like BigBoss and Ocelot are set to where they are in the future but what about miller? Missing limbs and a vengeful streak. He is supposed to start hating BigBoss but how and why? He also befriends and trains Solid Snake. hopefully it all makes sense

Yeah from the look of it, Big Boss might end up becoming the tyrant he was originally supposed to be. I think in the MGS4 ending he came to peace with his past and realized the error of his ways. He even told Snake he probably would of made better decisions if he was in his place.

I wonder if we will see the birth of Fox-Hound in these games. It was developed in the 80's. Doesn't that mean Big Boss resumes his role for working for Cipher/Zero?

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Kiefer Sullivan, huh? Not a bad replacement, but still a shame Hayter was replaced at all. I'm sure I'll keep forgetting that I'm not controlling Jack Bauer.
