Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If this was the beginning of a reboot why continue with Peace Walkers story at all. If changing the VAs why bring back Chicos and Kazs' VAs? Im very confused, i hope the community keep bugging Kojima abut this, I really want Hayter back but not necessarily for MGS5

I know what's happening. Somewhere along the timeline, there was a time paradox. Little Gray stumbled into a worm hole, got transported back to the 60s and stole all of Big Boss' cigars. Because of that, Big Boss never smoked enough tobacco to develop his trademark raspy voice. Hence, David Hayter isn't needed, and your theory is flawed. Flawed, I say! I dare you or anyone else to prove me wrong. I'll wait.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I'm excited about this game, regardless of who the protagonist is. I don't understand why everyone is jumping to conclusions and whining about everything. End of the day it's Kojima's creation and he can do what he wants. We'll all buy it regardless, and it'll be great like all the others (some games more than others obviously and for different reasons). None of us knew we were about to play through a MGS game with some dude named Raiden when we were firing up our PS2's for Sons, and we don't know who it'll be this time around.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Dear lord so much drama and everybody ripping off their panties haha can't even take you seriously any more guise...

Anyway, I'm excited about this game, regardless of the bump that is not having Hayter aboard, he did say he would return in the future, the franchise is by no means ruined, haha silly silly claims.

EDIT: The only thing I disliked was that GZ was going to be released first and after a while PhP will come out, much like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, I'll wait until they release the full thing together or something.

MGS 2 = Tanker Mission + Plant Mission

MGS3 = Virtuous mission + Operation Snake Eater

MGS 5 = Ground Zeroes + Phantom Pain

so IMO it'll come together .. Prologues missions aint stranger to MGS

Tanker + Virtuous mission were Failed Missions by Both Solid Snake & Big Boss.. & Ground Zeroes possibly is another Failed Mission by Big Boss which puts him in a 9 year coma

Hopefully It will be like that, but he did emphasize that there would be a sort of gap between both parts releases, he said that he would release GZ in order for players to get used to all the new mechanics and then when everybody is used to them, he'd release the PP.

dead-man, you know your sig just says "to collecting hot toys"? just figured id point that out. sorry no mgs stuff just that.

A Gap?

For me I Don't mind if it had a Gap unless the Final Game Release will have it Again for those who didn't play GZ by Release Date

And the Actual Game picks up from the Saved Position for those who played GZ

by "gap" I mean a time lapse, they will release GZ and later on they will release PP, that's what Kojima hinted in the interview, unless I misunderstood it.

I don't know about that, but there are rumors than you will not be able to play PP unless you finished GZ, which sounds logical if it's within the same game/purchase, not so much if they're 2 separate releases, it's all assumptions at this point.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Personally, I'm OK with Big Boss having a different voice actor for MGSV, so long as the voice actor is Richard Doyle from MGS4 (he did a great job), and Hayter returns as Snake in a future game (If a future game with Snake is made). In fact, I actually wanted this game to feature a different voice after to differentiate BB and Snake as different characters, as having them both with the same voice would have been stupid. If Hayter does not voice SS in a future game, THEN I will be p!ssed off.

Maybe, only maybe, they only gave a different voice to BB cause SS will actually be in the game.... I'm dreaming of course but hope dies last.

Cause yeah, like you say, if they have the same voice it would be both stupid and hilarious.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I've just noticed something peculiar about the new trailer. It doesn't have any of Kojima's trademark humor like in the trailers for the previous games. No smoking monkeys, guys crapping their pants, or any sort of goofy, over the top humor that MGS games have been known for. On the contrary, TTP looks rather serious.

who said that? were pissed because its implied he wont. Im actually fine with a new VA for BigBiss, not SolidSnake.

I think the series needs that. It was quite serious in MGS1, that tone needs to return. The franchise was just got too cartoony to be taken that seriously imo, so im glad thats finally happening at least!

Oh my bad, I thought I heard it on the GT interview, but I re-watched it and I was wrong, you can get pissed now lol.

I just think it's all a trick, it was all very unannounced and he didn't make a big fuzz about it, just like: "Meh, he's out, no biggie". While, the Japanese VA is still the same, you know? Either there's something that went wrong between those two, or Kojima is just messing with us.

Personally I think it would be illogical if Hayter's out for good.

Yeah, I agree. MGS 1 is still my favorite game of the series, to this day. The ambiance, the storyline - everything about it was perfect.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yeah it definitely looks like Kojima is going for a more serious tone this time around, something more realistic, which is good. I think BB needed a new voice actor. As he got older, that was bound to happen IMO, to differentiate the character from Solid Snake. I still think Hayter will return for a future game, IF Solid Snake is featured again. I highly doubt Kojima would cast Solid Snake with a new voice actor. It makes sense for Big Boss, but not for Solid Snake.

Personally, I'm pretty excited for this game. It all sounds really interesting and the ability to tackle missions in many different ways sounds really fun.
