Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

MGS2 kind of reminds me of RE6, big bosses that just test my patience as a gamer b/c they take so long. It was less about playing skill and more about being good enough to survive, lol. At least regarding the Metal Gear Rays. Solidus was frustrating, but pretty easy. Not much of a final boss really.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Solidus was all about giving the illusion of overwhelming you, but I play it today and he's laughably easy for me.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yeah, exactly. He's frustrating because it takes time. I remember reading once that people thought it was easier to beat him with physical attacks. lol. It's more challenging that way, but still easy. In fact, I think you can argue he's the easiest boss in the game. Although, none of them are particularly hard. Not once did I have a fear of being defeated.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yeah, the sword is pretty cool once you get the hang of it and find you can do stuff with it. It's a shame he didn't get it earlier in the game. It would have been great if you could just sneak up and silently kill the enemy with it.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The HD collection gave the false impression you could get it earlier since you see in a shot Raiden has it when you first see Fortune killing the SEAL unit.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Fatman was annoying. Especially when he would place bombs on top or under neath crates. The first time I played MGS2 it took me a few deaths to figure out that he put them underneath. Ha, newb, lol. Besides that, he's just lame, and annoying to hit.

Vamp wasn't too bad of a fight, but I don't care for his character either. I found him pretty easy to beat. When he would jump out of the water and stand on the dock I would shoot him with the grenade launcher. Then when he jumped around on the balcony I would shoot him with the AK47U or M4. What was annoying was when he hit you with the dagger that left you unable to move.

The most difficult battle was definitely the barrage of Metal Gear Rays. I would say it was a frustrating boss fight, but at least it was challenging. I found the easiest way to beat it is to attack as fast and consecutively as possible.

Still, nothing compares to the final boss fight in MGS1. Now that was challenging and worthwhile.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I thought the RAY battle was ridiculous. For one there is no way dumb Raiden can fight off so many of them. Although those 30 RAYs seem to equal one REX :lol

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

It was ridiculous, but in a game full of relatively easy boss fights, at least it was a challenge. When I played the game this past week I only had one ration in that battle, haha. So maybe that just made it feel harder.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

MGS1 Big Boss run is the hardest achievement in the entire series. You can literally get killed within 2 gunshots in the beginning. They allow 1 ration. I remember I had trouble with the Tank and Liquid.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I don't know if I ever attempted the Big Boss run actually. Maybe once, but I don't think I felt up to it. I'm a decent gamer, but I'm not really dedicated enough to get that good at a game. I think the only game I've really played a lot is Final Fantasy VIII.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I did the BB run on MGS1 about 10 years ago. I got a 1:51 for time although there are nutjobs out there that got 1:30 or lower.

I was using Stealth and Bandana of course :lol
