Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

You're not evil, but you're one more argument in favor of the sensationalist journalism that claims videogames can twist your soul :lol

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

You can even see in the trailers what it appears to be Punished Snake shooting some people in a cell, but that could be edited.

That name just makes me cringe :slap. And for the fact that he's still being called "Snake".

And I'm pretty sure it is edited. The trailer didn't exactly show who (or what) Big Boss was shooting at.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The name's pretty cool, and well, he is the 1st snake after all.

I'd say the name's pretty unnecessary at this point in time. It practically defeats the whole dramatic "Call me Big Boss" line at the end of Peace Walker. I mean, just when you think that Big Boss has finally accepted who he is, he's still being referred to as "Snake". Either that's one of the retcons that Kojima was referring to about MGS V, or he has just conveniently forgotten about certain things from the last game.

I guess the only thing left after Punished Snake is "Flame-broiled Snake", after Solid torches him with the aerosol spray and lighter fluid :yess: :lol.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

:lol But you make a good point, he supposedly left the name Snake behind, and to be honest, big boss suits him a lot better.

I think Kojima is trying to show Snake as a character with many personas, a la Avatar (the bald kid not the blue aliens)

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The MGS series has always been known for it's porn-tastic codenames, but "Punished Snake" was just too much for me not to lol.

I always refer to Big Boss as "Big Boss" out of respect for the character :lol.

I mean, it was understandable why he was called "Naked Snake" in MGS 3. But, I think for the sake of character growth, it should have been left behind right after Peace Walker. From the way I see it, as long as Big Boss is still being referred to as "Snake", he can't truly break away from the shadows of Solid Snake (from which his character was defined). And not to mention, that non-fans of MGS already have a hard time telling them apart when they have the same name :slap.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Damn it, I'm the only one who doesn't catch the euphemisms :lol that's probably why I think they're cool code names.

They're far from cool. :lol I'm just glad they were named by a man who barely comprehends English or I'll definitely be creeped out decades ago. I know a lot of my friends were.

It does have a BDSM vibe to it :rotfl

The whole frikkin' game has a BDSM vibe to it. :lol Remember that amputation fetish article?

Wait, what?! Refresh my memory on this article! :rotfl

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I just wish Kojima would stop siphoning off on Snake's name and stop using it already for Biggu Bawzu.
