Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Yeah, but it certainly wasn't easy, I mean, those exo suits were tough as nails, but their twisted minds were the liability that bent them over, no pun intended, maybe a little, remember the photoshoot? lol, good times.

Yup, I think the same, It's actually one of my holy grials, I might get it once my wallet recovers from all the 3A purchases (Yes, I like 3A, please don't flame me people lol).

I like ThreeA too :lol. I even hope that they acquire the MGS license for some character figures - Ashley Wood's drawings would look incredible in 1/6 scale.

Didn't like the way that they handled REX though (sacrificing head articulation for electronics, prolonged shipping time with sparse updates). I hope that things go about much more smoothly with RAY.

I know, Revolver Ocelot would be amazing, truly.

The way they update people is retarded they give you next to nothing ever and they don't care how pissed people are that's the only thing about 3*a that I can't stand it drives me insane Sent from the Shell by codec.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Also it took a lot of b-alls and boldness from Kojima, to go completely against the current trend of video games protagonists (all male, all white, mid 20- mid -30 crackers with perfectly chiseld faces).

The only thing to dread about Old Snake is that unfortunate mustache...
That reminds me, at the time, it felt like every new MGS game was always almost shamelessly copied by other game developers, but no one dared to copy making their main character an old man! :lol

And I thought Snake handled the Lee Van Cleef look pretty well, all things considered! :D

A beard. A scruffy Solidus-like beard to go with that mustache, its all I am asking for :)

Then again, I heard someone say once, that this slightly ridiculous "retro male porn star" look, just showed how disconected from the world Snake was. How much of an outsider. He just doesn't give a **** about grooming standards and fashion ;)

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Watching Escape from new york. Snake Plissken is totally an MG Snake. Theres also talk of Junkers like from Snatcher and the presidents escape pod is like Armstrongs cockpit in MG Excellus. Though im probably reading too much into it.

Great past few posts. Don't agree 100% with everything but great posts nonetheless.

Ash updates whenever the **** he want's, I don't mind, some people hate it.

Haha oh man whatever you do, please, no spoilers! I haven't watched it, I'll watch it tonight.

When I played the NES Metal Gear and I saw Escape from New York I never made the connection. When I first played Metal Gear Solid though, I was like "Escape from New York??"

A bit of trivia: MGS is not much of a rip off of EFNY anymore as John Carpenter himself has endorsed the series and expressed his admiration for Solid Snake. All we need now is a crossover. :lol

Solid Snake is a even mix of Rambo and Plissken. I mean Campbell is a spitting image of Trautman.

Totally man. There was a good fan video on youtube around when Snake Eater came out, basically a compilation of various scenes from the Rambo movies set to various MGS3 music. It was really, in fact, if anyone has a link please post it.

My girlfriend knows little about MGS, so when we watched EFNY she just assumed that was the same guy from the games.

My girlfriend is a casual fan of it, but she loves Snake Eater (pun intended) because Big Boss and Young Ocelot are "hot."

UGH

And she really likes the vocal track for Snake Eater and always gets mad if I skip the intro with it playing :lol

LOL, even attempting to explain MGS at this point would probably make my head explode. It's one of those things where I have great love for the series, it's been a big part of my life since 1998, but damn it's silly when you look at it as an outsider.

It's one series that if you miss one game you're completely lost. You cannot just jump in the middle of the series and expect to grasp it.

MGS1 was a rarity since they heavily elaborate on what Outer Heaven and Zanzibar was throughout the game and even have the backstory files in the main menu.

I'll never forget the demo for MGS1, I would go to Toys R Us and play that over and over...really blew my mind. I had a SNES growing up, and didn't get another gaming system until MGS1 was released. I have never been that into video games, but MGS just got a hold of me for some reason. It was the perfect storm of 1980s style military commando action, espionage, ninjas, everything that I loved as a kid.
