Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I'll never forget the demo for MGS1, I would go to Toys R Us and play that over and over...really blew my mind. I had a SNES growing up, and didn't get another gaming system until MGS1 was released. I have never been that into video games, but MGS just got a hold of me for some reason. It was the perfect storm of 1980s style military commando action, espionage, ninjas, everything that I loved as a kid.

You're really taking me back :lol

I didn't play the demo, but I had a PS1 demo disc that had the first trailer for the game. I still remember seeing it and seeing Snake vs. the M1 Tank. I was like "wow that looks great!"

I was kind of late to the game on getting the game, a lot of my friends were talking about it. So Grandmother bought it for me (I was 11 years old mind you :lol) and I literally sat and played it for 12 hours straight for 2 days. I've never been so glued to a game in my life.

Let's hope that 2nd remake talk wasn't Koji Pro blowing smoke up our ***

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The flashback to Shadow Moses in MGS4 was amazing. When you are walking into the helipad area and "The Best is Yet To Come" starts playing, and all the flashbacks....ESPECIALLY when you grab the Mk23 and he says something like "just like old times"...man, that was some powerful, emotional stuff. From a damn video game too. Pretty amazing stuff.

Do you know when I read that, without even trying to do it in my head I immediately read that in Snake's voice :rotfl

Shadow Moses is definitely the best spot in the game, shame there wasn't living breathing soldiers guarding it :gah:

HAHA isn't it funny how that happens. Whenever I read or hear the word "Hind D" I always hear it in Snake's voice, or how about one of my old favorites "they're armed with five-five sixers and pineapples" ...THAT one was a popular one in school lol.

MGS1 is so damn quotable.

"I'M YOU! I'M YOUR SHADOW!"

"WHAT!?"

"ASK THE FATHER YOU KILLED, I WILL SEND YOU TO HELL TO MEET HIM!"

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

"Come, Snake, kneel down and sacrifice yourself to this historic weapon!
Consider it an honor, a gift from your brother!

Now you shall bear witness to the demon weapon that will drag the world into the 21st century!!"

Best damn game ever! Liquid is the ultimate villain

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I want to share a thought with you guys, and know if you agree with me. I believe that they MUST remake all the MG stories up to MGS1. Why? Because important characters have to fit in that timeline. I mean, Ocelot is clearly one of the most important characters of the whole MG lore, and he must have some involvement during the MG-MG2 time.
Also, Miller is becoming a very important character too, since he is the closest one to Big Boss on becoming the evil guy we were introduced to in the first place. I believe he is also gaining some love among fans (I think he's an awesome character) and his eventual death by Liquid (or Ocelot?...maybe he killed him since, in a way, is betraying BB, even if is just for business) cannot be reduced only to a phrase in the briefing files...

thank you,
thoughts?

I agree, I think pretty much every MGS fan wants a remake of MG, MG2 and MGS1.

SNAKE! THIS IS MCDONNELL MILLER.

I can hear him now lol. I thought Master Miller was so badass in MGS1 (I know, I know) I'd like to see him more like that version of himself.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Oh and let's not forget, something extreme has to happen if Miller then refers to BB as a "monster", maybe he get's too involved with Zero or he was posing only for the coup d'état Big Boss was planning and Liquid killed him because he thought he was a Patriot and aaaaargh

Oh and another thing, a friend of mine said that the breed in Diamond Dogs logo is the one used for hunting Foxes, dat's kewwwl

I'm a huge David Bowie fan (Mick Ronson is my guitar hero), so the fact "Diamond Dogs" is used in MGS is so awesome. If you know the story behind the album, which is that it is based on George Orwell's 1984, it really fits great with MGS. Plus it just sounds bad ***.

definitely sounds bad ***, can you give a us a quick summary on the Bowie-MGS connection please? (I like Bowie's music too but never paid special attention to details)

It's really just that Bowie's put out an album in 1974 called Diamond Dogs. The album is about a post-apocalyptic world. In a sense, I think with MGS, someone is always trying to prevent the world from reaching that point. It's not very easy to explain George Orwell's book Nineteen Eighty-Four, and it's more that certain ideas in all three works meet up. Like the idea of Big Brother, single party rule, and all of those crazy ideas that probably aren't that different from what the Patriots want. I think Kojima is just a fan of Bowie given his age. I recommend anyone check out Orwell's book if they haven't, it's an interesting read.

I don't think a remake of MG1 and MG2 is that necessary, since much of what happens in those games are repeated in MGS1. If they were to get remade they'd have to be complete remakes.

I wouldnt mind a HD remake of MGS1 but in fear of them ruining it, i think the shouldn't. Unless its an exact copy with better graphics like the new HD Abes Odessy.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

You kidding? MG remakes are a must! They're completely different stories than MGS1 and in MGS1 they just tell parts of what happened.

I NEED the MG remakes.

Absolutely agree. I actually wouldn't mind if they revamp the story a little since the plot in that is so old and archaic and is starting to really not mesh well with the rest of the series. Those two games aren't aging well in my opinion.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Haha well it's hard to make this age well, definitely needs revamp if remade.

Still has it's charm though.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear TX 55 and D need to be completely redone to make them more advanced than the stupid Peace Sentinels and ZEKE.
