Okay I literally gobbled up 2 slices of pizza and I'm having my 3rd cigarette since I've beaten the game. Here's my brief thoughs on the robbery, I mean game before I write a proper review tomorrow:

There's almost literally no story and it doesn't shed any light on anything whatsoever. I kept preparing myself for that "big twist" and it was the worst let down since my blind date in college.

The tone is dark and sombre, but handled with little finesse. A dark tone should alleviate your story, give it more context beyond what you are showing, not be the the focus of it! :slap

The gameplay, while sublime- doesn't remotely feel like Metal Gear. Enemies are super smart, but you still feel like a rat in a maze with hungry cats waiting to pounce on you. A lot of times I was spotted and even with the slo-mo, rarely could I land headshots. It's a methodical stealth experience that lacks the tension and most importantly PRECISION of games such as say, The Last of Us or the Arkham games. It feels like a chore more than an experience.

The sound mixing and quality are HORRIBLE. I was expecting to be at least as good as MGS4 but it's nowhere near a PS2 game even. I don't know if it's because mine is the digital version but it's really that bad. Helicopters barely register on the rear speakers, everything lacks directionality and there is little soundstage to speak of.

The graphics are great, even on PS3, but it's way too blurry and most of the time it's hard to get grasp on your surroundings due to the murkiness of the visuals.

Miller kept giving me useless info, especially the part when I was finding Paz. He kept saying "You must find her" "Find Paz". I KNOW THAT ALREADY YOU SENILE A-HOLE.

All in all, till I write a proper written review for you guys, just know this- If you actually paid for this, the jokes on you sucker. Good day to you all!

They said from the beginning that this game was "different" and wouldn't hold your hand like other Metal Gears. So this shouldn't come as a surprise...

How about a tutorial instead? Just like any regular joe, I've played a lot of games and this has to be one of the most irritating ones ever. The controls are NOT bad, the learning curve is. There is no excuse to that.

Despite literally everyone else in here saying that it still handles, feels and pretty much is the same as other MGS titles?

Seems a little contradictory

What did you think of Sutherland's acting?

Might not agree with the guy on most things, but that brief review is spot on. Zero substance to this game's story. ZERO.

In some ways, feels like blacklist more than MGS tbh.

Oh indeed it does, but it lacks the finesse of simpler, more user friendly stealth games. Way too much is crammed in with no room to breathe whatsoever. You'll need some time to get used to all those.

And for those of you who think "That Ryan Foreskin guy must have sucked at MGS", I've gotten the platinum trophy for MGS2, 3, PW and 4 and attempting to re-do the again. MGS2 FFS!

He's the least of my problem with the game. I really had no time to think about it but now that I do, I couldn't care less. It's not like Big Boss has any character in Ground Zeroes anyway.

Anyway, the game feels like "What if Ubisoft made a Metal Gear game?" This is how it will feel. There's little unique quality, no excitement, everything is too grounded and monotone for no rhyme or reason.

Don't worry man, you're opinion has already been cast aside with the rest that have had negative things to say about the game :lol

I did lol at the Ryan Foreskin remark though. At least you can laugh at yourself

I think it was done on purpose, to extend the gameplay in some way to lengthen the experience, so that people could actually think this game is 2 hours when it really isn’t.

Sound is underwhelming as well, every other ps4 game I have, sounds great on my new headset, I was shocked to hear how much worse this is than MGS4 in that department.

Only thing I disagree with is the little story there is, is pretty good. Have you seen 12 Years a Slave? All of the horrific events of slavery were right in your face, nothing subtle about it. Being that this is a prologue, and a “taste” to the main game, it makes sense for Kojima to not shy away from anything, this is technically apart of the TPP, which might have worse things happening. I don’t think he really added anything unnecessary to the story, just for shock factor, I think he’s just making the game he wants, and doesn’t want to have to tippy toe around anything.

The gameplay is the best in the series in my opinion, only thing I miss is the wall knock, as the infinite clips just don’t enhance the realism that Kojima is striving for.

I don’t think anyone is a “sucker” for paying for this game though, not if you’re enjoying it.

It does to me, feels like a natural evolution from the MGS4 gameplay.

That reminds me, self deprecating humor is something Kojima lacks big time. Why? Blame ourselves, we're the one who summon the word "genius" and "god" when he touches anything. Now he thinks he has the right to do anything.

I've never been this disappointed with Metal Gear or Kojima in my life. <spits on his framed picture on my shrine>

Maybe this should have been a full game in general and not bread crumbs.

The fact he has to put easter eggs of himself in the games the bigger his ego got says a lot about the man if you ask me

& Kiba it most definitely should have

And what gives Kojima the right to artificially pad the length of the game? I was really TRYING to give this game the benefit of the doubt, but the only thing that got me smiling was when Snake bumped into some empty canisters and fuel tanks, the guards were in the middle of a conversation and they all went checking me out. Classic Metal Gear done right. :clap

I'm playing TLOU tomorrow to wash the bad taste off my mouth. I apologize in advance for the rant, and if you're dead set on getting the game, don't let my (or anyone else's) opinions deter you. Go for it and have fun people!
