Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Obviously it's not gonna look much different from your run of the mill worn case, but this is it. Some grains of Afghan sand are visibly stuck between the plastic and paper cover on the bottom right near the tear. Nothing special, just kind of cool due to the correlation:

Have you tried removing the slip-cover from the plastic case, and blowing out the sand? I usually remove the covers when dust gets inside the plastic.

Of course normally I would. But since I played this while deployed in Afghanistan back in '08, it makes it more "special" to me.

Thanks for sharing that. Very cool, definitely something special.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Did any of you guys see the GDC conference of The Phantom Pain/Ground Zeroes? It's interesting that the game play demo was run on a PC and not one of the consoles.

They probably had a targeted framerate for the demo. Current gen consoles would probably struggle to run this at a locked 30fps, or KP probably had to downscale the engine to do so?

Well, I was actually thinking that the graphics in the trailer and demo looked too spectacular for the current consoles to handle :lol. Have you heard any news of a next-gen release, by the way?

Nothing official just yet, but Kojima has stated many times that he loves new tech. It's almost given that this will be next gen. Even if the graphics stays the same as the trailers, running on PS4/720 means that more enemies/objects on screen, more complex weather effects, more stuff going on on screen and probably a solid framerate. No way Kojima would pass that up.

You know, to be honest, it doesn't bother me. I like being surprised, I like the mystery. The internet has taken away so much power from things. I like not knowing everything that's going on with MGSV.

Completely agree. It's the main the reason I stay away from movie discussions for films that haven't been released yet.

I do the same thing. I probably shouldn't jump in here, but I figure Kojima has a pretty good control over the dissemination of information regarding MGSV. It's all guessing on our end, and that's part of the fun.
