By the way, I don't believe that this question was ever asked in this thread. But, what do you guys think about the musical direction of MGS V? Or, more specifically, Ground Zeroes?

I was listening to the "Escape" track, composed by Ludwig Forsell and Harry Gregson-Williams, and quite ironically, it reminded me a lot of the music from Sean Callery - who happens to be the composer for 24 :lol. As for the song, I think it has a good beat, but it could have been so much better if the subtle nuances in uptempos, weren't drowned out by this overplayed, and boombing bass sound. It's something that I've never heard from either Callery or Gregson-Williams, so I'm going to blame the new guy for messing it up.

That's the ONLY good track in GZ.

Harry Gregson-Williams has always been associated with MGS music, especially when someone uploads them to Youtube but in reality, he DOES NOT do the in-game music, not the menus or additional music, it's just not his job. He is solely should be credited to the music in the cutscenes only,

It's going to be a long two hour, thirty-ish minute wait for this thing :lol.

Have I told you how much I HATE how the Ground Zeroes main theme sounds like? FAAARRTT-FA-FA-FA-FARRT!

I'm even surprised that this is the 1st time you mentioned you hate the main beat :lol

On the other hand I like the distorted beat, I hope they don't over use it though, distortion/complextro is cool and all, but only in very small doses.

I haven't gone around to listen GZ soundtrack, I was waiting for it to hit youtube and I completely forgot about it.

That theme sounds good though.

Now I'd like to introduce you to the game's composer Ludvig Forssell, who acts like a douche, sings terrible songs, and also makes music by beating a guitar with a banana...

..Hey! Where you're running to Solidus?

GZ has the worst soundtrack of all Metal Gear games, even Steve Hennifin from Twin Snakes could come up with more imaginative tunes.

Remember the days where you would have Snake on idle just to listen to the tunes and the music actually has a motif behind them rather than some generic Hans Zimmer rip-off?

That theme is indeed epic.

Mentioning distortion, I love Jesper Kyd's compositions in the Assassin's Creed games (as well as work in Batman and Robin for the Genesis). I just think the bass is too way overplayed for GZ, and the new beat or whatever, is so uninspiring and derivative.

Where can I see a video with this freakin' banana boy? :rotfl

:lecture

Ground Zeroes really fell short in the musical department. Like you said, the Escape track was the only good track in the game. But, it probably could have been better if Banana Boy didn't mess with it so much.

Aaaah I thought only I did that :duff:duff:duff :lol haha man those tunes till make me want to sneak around in real life.

Well, I honestly didn't expect GZ OST to blow me away, after all it's only a byproduct of a demo made to get some financial returns, I'm only happy I actually enjoyed GZ quite a lot, BUT I dot expect TPP OST to completely blow my mind.

Still, I will listen to GZ soundtrack and see what's up.

Lol, awesome! The whole GZ ost is already on Youtube, despite lacking an official release.

On second thought, no. No way in hell.

Aww c'mon! I double dare you! And Gaspar.. :lol

He also shows how he came up with the fart theme.

And yes, this is him..

Can you give me link to the section where he plays with his banana? :lol. I don't feel like watching that one hour monstrosity of Kojima worshiping.

Is this guy ****ing serious? :slap The Ground Zeroes motif is the single, laziest piece of music I've heard in MGS. I really hope they give this college-looking intern the boot for TPP.

Tee hee hee.

"College intern banana boy" You nailed it right there. He only got the gig because he can speak Japanese. He has no prior work under his belt. It does seem like he's a fresh graduate who got lucky. Gone are Konami's in-house composers for some reason.

Oh, I'd hate to add salt to the wound, but he's also the sole composer for TPP.

This is too much...
