Short answer no. Streaming is pre-encoded to run as smoothly as possible so a lot of bitrate is lost.



I'm just an audio/videophile Gaspar. The only thing I did was some music video that got Platinum Games' attention because I was enduring a nasty breakup at the time. :lol

I think if your PC can run recent games, you can definitely run HD videos in stunning quality. You'll need Windows Media Player Classic, MadVR, and FFDshow first and foremost. :hi5:

If it's any consolation, my Quad Core i5 3570K (overclocked) with a GTX 650 GPU (which is also overclocked) struggles somewhat to play high-definition videos. In the end, you really need an epic gaming PC for looseless audio and video.

I use Media Player Classic with an old version of the K-lite codec pack.

Just add MadVR to that and you're all set. I can give you the settings, I seriously doubt your PC will choke like mine. :lol
 


I don’t know if any of you guys have seen this before, but this man hates Kojima!

He seems to have a deep hatred for MGS2, I couldn’t finish the video, it was making me physically ill.
 
When a video on youtube has around 20% dislikes you know it's bad... This guy has around 70% dislikes.

Wouldn't worry about him, I watched about 30 seconds, he wasn't making any sense, it's a video made for views, nothing more, trolling gets a lot of view.

It's a ****** article but it has the comments on the trailer by 3 fat fishes in the film making industry, praising Kojima out of his socks about the trailer.

Btw, I started watching 24..... I couldn't be happier about Bauer playing BB now :rock:
 
Uuuugh, watched half of it, they acknowledge time and time again to not know **** about MGS2, they haven't played all the games, they really seem to never play videogames judging by the manner they word their opinions and how discombobulated they sound at the various features of the game... It's just, it's like watching a virgin nun give her thoughts on sex....

The only time I felt that ill was when I watched the nostalgia chick review The Fifth Element.... I could not sit through it's entirety either.

Bunch of *******, is all I can say.
 
Phew, juts finished downloading the trailer off torrent, all 6474.18 MB of it. Gonna watch it on my PS3 later.

Aside from the Killzone PS4 footage, this is easily the largest gameplay video I've ever downloaded. Better be worth it!
 
One thing I did notice is the gameplay in incredibly smooth and fluid, I can't say for sure but for some reason it looks like it's feels much better than GZ, even though it probably doesn't

I kinda dig BB look in TPP with the ponytail and all. I don't like the iron man hand, they could have made it so much better by just making it a dark colour and the horn could quite easily not be there and I doubt anyone would care, but those are nitpicks at best

I actually don't mind Ocelots voice at all, I really don't like the revamped face though, he's got abit of a weasel look about him now

The graphics are mind blowing and paired with the seamless ebb of the gameplay it actually has me intrigued to see more but I do wish they'd keep a bit more of the MGS feel to it
 
That's one thing I'll give MGS4 credit for, still had Ocelot's look and had Zimmerman's voice. Although, I wished he was really Liquid...

That's what I found to be crazy, why would they make a video crapping on the series when most of them didn't play any game in the series, the one who did all the talking only played 1 and 2.


About 24, I only got up to season 3, but by that time, his daughter had been kidnapped like 10 times and Bauer escaped capture like 6 times, it was all a bit too outrageous for me. I think watching that show might actually make someone hate Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss. I would stay clear of it until after beating TPP!

BY MIKE MAHARDYHideo Kojima's love for film has been front and center throughout the Metal Gear Solid franchise –– the main character is named after Kurt Russell's character in Escape form New York. And after seeing the E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, several film directors were impressed by Kojima's direction.

Nicolas Winding Refn, director of Drive, Bronson and Only God Forgives, was particularly impressed.

“Watching the trailers for MGSV makes you wonder if the spirits of Dostoyevsky, Stanley Kubrick and Caravaggio entered Hideo Kojima's body because, using the art of gaming as his canvas, he boldly goes where no one has gone before," he said, according to Konami's website.Guillermo del Toro, director of films such as Pan's Labyrinth and the more recent Pacific Rim, said Kojima has always been a "massive inspiration," and that Metal Gear Solid V continues to deliver the "edgy, vital, jaw-dropping world" that the series has explored.

And Park Chan-wook, the director of Oldboy and its famous hammer scene, said he has always wanted to see a film directed by Kojima, but realized that he has "actually been making films in his own way already."

In May, Kojima said that the E3 trailer might be tough to watch, as it shows men "descending into madness." As for development on The Phantom Pain, Kojima warned fans not to expect it anytime soon, as it's roughly 200 times bigger than Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, which released in March.

So I finished watching the 60fps trailer last night and what can I say, it's GORGEOUS! I especially love the weather effects such the particles in sand storm which really gives you that immerse feeling harkening back to the blizzard in MGS1 and rain in MGS2.

What's unfortunately apparent however, are the drawbacks of an open world design, such as the all too obvious object pop outs and limited draw distance. It's also highly disappointing that the grass are mere cut outs and don't seem to blend with the ground at all (look at how the grass clips to Snake's cardboard box). This wasn't an issue in MGS3, where each individual blade of grass were individually modeled, complete with physics that reacts to everything you could imagine. It's just unpleasing to look at the grass that feels really fake in this game.

Strangely enough, I wasn't able to play it on my PS3 using Universal Media Server, so I had to use Windows Media Player. It got the framerate right, but it lacks the encoders to really make the picture truly pop out. Oh well.

I just finished watching the trailer, too. I turned on fraps, just to make sure that it was truly running at 60 FPS - and what do you know, it actually was! :lol

I noticed those exact same things that you mentioned as well, as I'm looking at the several things that I jotted down on paper :lol. The draw distance seems rather poor in the desert, and textures appear to pop much better when the binoculars are equipped. Also, the leaves on the ground do seem rather artificial, as they move two-dimensionally, just like cardboard cutouts. I was really expecting to see flora with a more dynamic range of movement in the wind.

I've also noticed that there's some noticeable lack of anti-aliasing. It's unfortunate that an open-world design has to balance performance and graphical power, and you end up with these trade-offs. Many of those issues could have been mitigated if the game was actually running on an epic, high-performance gaming PC, instead. But, the consoles are what they are, and considering their technical limitations, this is what you have in the end.

From what I've seen in the demo, I think TPP shines the most with its environmental effects. The sand, rain and sun all look very vibrant. It was pretty cool, that when it suddenly rained on Mother Base, you could actually see the concrete becoming wet.

On another note, was it just my eyes playing tricks on me, or did you see any scan lines? :lol
 
I think MGSV is severely hindered by the fact that it had to share development with the previous generation of consoles, that could explain some of the drawbacks we've been seeing.

Cause it looks amazing, but because of how good it looks, the things that don't look that good pop out even more.
 
Oh yes, I forgot the aliasing. It's very apparent and I would gladly trade some resolution for some anti-aliasing. I didn't notice any scan lines however, just what player are you using, Solidus?

I think I can see why Kojima is depressed with the PS4 version of GTAV. In case any of you didn't know, Kojima recently revealed he was yet again depressed by the reveal of the enhanced GTA. Sounds kinda juvenile of him? Read on.

The answer is simple really, with GTAV Rockstar is using lower poly counts and last gen tech, which sounds less appealing than the FOX Engine but Rockstar is enhancing everything- resolution, draw distance, textures, lighting and gamma correction, even as so far as creating denser traffic and more objects on screen which in short, is truly amazing!

This is kind of luxury MGSV and the Fox Engine does not have. Kojima is juggling so much at the same time and since he's pushing the boundaries of 3D visuals, a lot of performance trade offs are bound to happen.

Not really Gaspar. The Fox Engine was first and foremost developed for next gen adoption and it's designed to be scalable, meaning it's far adaptable to hardware iterations than most people give it credit for.

The things is, Rockstar has a proven track-record with making open-world, sandbox games. So, they'd know what works and what doesn't. You could even say that they pioneered the genre on the consoles. In comparison, KojiPro has zero experience with sandbox games, so, they have to create everything from scratch (instead of building upon a current engine). It's a tall order - if they'd want to effectively compete against the likes of GTA.

That's not to say that the Fox engine doesn't look great. But, given all of the hype it received, I'd expected a little better - especially considering the lack of anti-aliasing, limited draw distances, etc.

Then what could it be attributed to? The fact that it's still in development? How much more should the PS4 be able to handle?

I'd really like to know how much of the PS4's resources are being utilized for MGS V. It would be a good interview question for Kojima.

Good question. Unless we have an actual videogame programmer jump in the boards and explain to us we can only speculate. The fact is though, home consoles will always be underpowered. 1080p60fps gaming is still a pipe dream, a lot of tradeoffs have to be done to achieve that.

That being said, Kojima Productions has stated again and again that this is NOT the final code and doesn't necessarily represents how the final product will be. Perhaps there's plenty of room for improvement? We can hope.

The Fox Engine is amazing, no doubts about that. But Kojima might be worried about that pesky GTA game running smoother and selling better than his game. I just fear that MGSV is too over ambitious for it's own good.
