Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

The voice acting isn't the best, but this is a faithful and excellent if not decent effort towards recreating MG1 and MG2 via MGO! Uses the music from the original MSX games, same script/dialogue, and recreates a lot of key scenes.

I just completed mgs2 for the first time in like 10 years. Mannnn. I see lots of rising in it too.

but. I feel sooooooo sad for Solidus. Because the creepiest thing i have ever seen in a video game is from MGS4 when he is "alive" as the big boss body.

**** mgs4. Wipe it from history pretend it didnt happen. Piece of ****

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Solidus is my favorite character in MGS. A true "patriot" in every sense. He loved America, and wanted to free her from The Patriots' control, but was forced to commit unthinkable acts along the way (eg. using Raiden as a child soldier). Between Big Boss and Zero's squabble (and gross misinterpretation) over The Boss's will - I think that Solidus's vision fell in line with what she would have wanted; defeat The Patriots, and return the world to how it was before they took over.

As for MGS 4 and Peace Walker: those games do have their awesome moments, but since their inceptions, the storyline of the series has really become irreversibly screwed up. No other words to describe it. Still looking forward to TPP, though.

I have to say, I tend to agree with everything Solidus said and perhaps he's the only antagonist in MGS that you can totally get behind, and to break that up he had to shoot Olga in the head.

:exactly::goodpost::lecture

All the characters we cared for the most were completely disrespected with MGS4.

Snake is old and dying.

Liquid was removed from Ocelot.

Solidus was a biomort.

I'm fine with Snake being old and dying, the problem was that he lost ALL of his self confidence from MGS1/2. He constantly needs reassurance from Otacon, Raiden and even Rose, and he doesn't take any initiative whatsoever. He's like a parody of Solid Snake.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Ew no, I see your points, but I completely disagree, not bull****.
whats not bull**** though? Between mgs2 and 4 where snake went from in his prime to being practically dead, solidus is a pile of dead parts in a carrier bag and Raiden is a cyborg ninja?

We glazed over about 20 years with no games inbetween playing the story to get them to these points. We were screwed. Mgs4 was sooo awesome. Its a shame it needed about 3 games inbetween to make it actually mean anything

Nothing is bull****, I like the fact that snake is an old decrepit guy, I liked solidus in MGS2 but I didn't care that he was a biomort in MGS4, I was surprised though, very, what's wrong with Raiden being a cyborg ninja? There was already one, it's only logical that they can make more cyborg ninjas, that complain makes no sense to me.

I'm guessing you mean 20 actual years between MGS2 and MGS4, cause chronologically they were like 7 years if I remember correctly, so it doesn't need 3 games, MGS4 connects with MGS2 just fine, IMO it doesn't need any games in between, one wouldn't hurt but it does not need it.

We were screwed? lol c'mon.

If you think these characters are sacred I think you're missing the point of the games.

:exactly:

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Are you delusional?

We were screwed. We got a great game in mgs 4. BUT at the cost of having ANY Solid snake game between mgs2 and 4. Whats so hard to understand? We will never get a Solid snake game between Shadow moses and Mgs 4 where he is practically dead. Thats the screw job. Given the franchise was Solid Snakes i think its a pretty big deal we can never play as him again until a prequel.

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Delusional? :lol I'm the one making sense

We were not screwed, it's not hard to understand, I'm rejecting your premise, that's all.

Let's say we get the MG remakes, then then the franchise goes back to Snake, let's say we don't, then Snake at least got closure, I know we're not getting a game in between MGS2 and 4, that's ok, I'm not the one asking for it, because there's no need.

Since I liked Old Snake and overall MGS4 a lot more than MGS2, I was not screwed, you can go ahead and feel screwed if you like, but I won't join you.

While we're at it, since you complain about not being able to play as Snake again, well, you played as Snake about only 20% of the game on MGS2.

The characters are the most "sacred" part of any franchise - not just MGS. I still remember how the Star Wars purists were ticked off at how Lucas handled Anakin Skywalker in the new trilogy.

Were never going to get a new story with Snake unless it's a prequel or a remake. It's Snake's franchise, not Big Boss's.
