You do have that in there. But Kojima said multiple times it's about "sense", and I just don't see how SOP defined the game at all. It's just a byproduct of the story, and not defining it.

You're right. I read somewhere the the sense thing is just bad translation and it's theme is will in Japan but both of those fall to the wayside and it's really about how the world both fictional and real doesn't need Snake any more. Not sure how true that is because Playstation certainly could use more Solid Snake.

I once read something about of how "SENSE" was being interpreted in Japanese as indicative of how the characters are trying to find themselves in the world. Some have claimed that whole "sense" theme was actually centered on reclaiming one's identity in the mass of informational cluster-eff that was happening due to the growth of the A.I. Partriots. Some folks have described the final boss battle as the closest one to really communicate that theme specifically because it shows how Snake and Ocelot wade through all the set expectations and mixed identities that were burdened upon them by punching each other out (it's also the reason why I've noticed more Japanese gamers were more receptive of Ocelot's character in MGS4).

Re: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

Two concerns here.
1 what about Silent Hills

2 MGS will probably continue now.

They're not turning their backs to their only cash cow, that's for sure. This might be a good thing to be honest, I kinda wanted him out of the driver seat for years now anyway.

MGS 4 is probably some dumb message about young and old, that's a general theme you can notice at times. Part of it was due to Kojima's own old age and him with new developers, or something similar from what I read.

It really could go either way. MGS certainly could use more spin offs too.

I don't think he's leaving any time soon. He claims to be leaving every time there's a new MGS game, and at this point, he's like the "boy who cried wolf" :lol. Even if Kojima winds up in just a support role (which, I'll be highly surprised if it happens), he'll still have to be very deeply involved in MGS for the foreseeable future. It's the only popular franchise that Konami actually has at their disposal, and they haven't allowed him to work on other games for years. His touted IP, Project Ogre, turned into MGS V, and Konami even pulled all the developers from ZOE 3 to work on MGS V.

He's a fool. I swear he's on drugs or something.

He has been sniffing...

Kojima out. Hayter in.

Reboot it like tomb raider, scrap most of the silliness and remake METAL GEAR with Snake's first mission to Outer Heaven in glorious next genny goodness.

So if he does leave and all the rumors are true, suddenly MGS would have had been better off without kojima?

If Konami goes ahead with the MG 1 and 2 remakes, I'd definitely want Kojima to be the creative force behind those. As much as I can criticize his decisions on some things, he made the series into what it is, and any games about the origins of Solid Snake will absolutely need to be handled by him.

:lol

I was looking for that GIF.

...

Kojima! What an attention whore. If he does leave and they still want to move forward with metal gear, I hope that Shinkawa will still be aboard.

I won't believe it until I see it :lol. Kojima has always been in a state of "leaving" MGS since 1998.

Shinkawa made all of the designs for MG Rising, which was handled by Platinum games. I'm sure he'll be on board, even if it comes to point where Kojima's no longer involved in the series.

Unless they give it to Naughty Dog, I don't see the remakes being better without Kojima.

Better let him do the remakes and then he can go.
