I think Koji has changed too much from the 90s to be able to do the remakes proper.
That could be a good thing, for instance, the open world and fox engine would work excellently for the MG remakes in my opinion, as opposed to remaking MGS1 that way, uuugh.

Gasper signs off. Fight over. Plissken wins.
Oh darn it, I didn't even see that coming...

I would love to see a MGS1/2/3 running on the FOX Engine, with all the cutscenes and voices porter over.

Playing the HD Collection, the patched-in voice overs explaining the controls were really, really bad. :lol

This. Will only add more convuluted silliness. May as well keep Jack Bauer as Snake too..

Fanboi rage will strong if he does go.

Konami will receive death threats just like when he wasn't going to be part of MGS4. If I could turn the clocks back and make a choice, I wouldn't have him anywhere near that game.

This is a huge mistake on Konamis part. Like U2 kicking out bono. They have shown that they mishandle their games consistently. No one plays Pro Evo anymore, Metal Gear is all they have that's good. And it'll break my heart to see MGS go the way of the Resident Evil, or Megaman franchises. Maybe a more relevant comparison Castlevania

While i don't think it's anywhere near the tripe that Resident Evil is nowadays, It's obvious Kojima has wanted out but can't or isn't allowed to cut the ties that bind

There must be some underlying bitterness on his part, that for years he's wanted to explore his ideas with something other than MGS and neither Konami and more importantly the fans won't let him

Doing something for someone else and not yourself for so many years cannot give the same output

If Kojima leaves and MGS carries on, i most probably will not be buying it

Love or hate what he's produced, he has still made some sweet games. The good outweigh the bad even for me. MGS1/2/3 and i suppose even MGS4 to an extent will never get old and i suppose nostalgia will always make people feel that way

There is a time when everything must come to an end though to keep integrity, i just hope kojima leaves within that time and not after

Konami has put up high level job postings for a "new Metal Gear" series.

It's official Konami/Kojima/MetalGear is done. I'm gonna be depressed now.

What does this mean for SilentHills, or MGS movie or even worse MetalGear collectibles?!

I might be in the minority but this actually has me excited. This is really the only chance Solid Snake has at returning or us getting more Philanthropy aadventures. This is way better news than Kojima carving out another random prequel sequel in an already crowded timeline.
