Yeah, those were the days :lol.

I wasn't aware that the site was back up. If KojiPro's logo is anywhere to be found in the promotions, then I'm sure that Kojima's still involved. This entire situation is just too strange. Kojima hasn't even Tweeted daily pics of his lunch in weeks, and that's cause for concern (no sarcasm).

I know, I'm starting to miss his curry pics :monkey2

I miss his curry pics too :lol

Right now, I'm 95% sure this is just some next-level trolling by Kojima, as many have pointed out, there is a suspicious amount of parallels between the themes of Ground Zeroes and this whole “erasing Kojima” scandal

Earlier during pre-production he said his new work is controversial and taboo, and he talked about possibly losing his job if the project wasn't recieved well. He might have been talking about his marketing strategy

I think this is all aimed at harnessing the speculative power of social media, if this is true I'd say it's working very well

#ahideokojimagame :slap :lol

I personally think MGS 1-4 have been great, so I'd prefer Konami left the the Snake story alone and either reboot or just bring in a new set of characters and a new story that exists in the same world as the older games.

But I'm happy he's going to be working on something else not Metal Gear related again.

As long as Konami doesn't **** with the Snake story and continue MG even without Kojima I'm okay with that.

The only way i accept MGS without Snake, is if its taken over by Idris Elba

shes right i need a Variety article to explain why the f--- Konami would fire the only thing it had going for it

Sure Donna, suuuure

Worst case scenario, this is all true. Well its actually not a big deal :dunno as a corporation, Konami has nothing to gain from rejecting Kojima, and everything to lose, plus MGS was going to outlive Kojima anyway. Fans are being provoked into coming to Kojima's "rescue" so this whole situation as become one of the silliest thing I've ever seen in my life.

I'm still very skeptical about the "worst case scenario" people have been freaking out over

Something serious is definitely up with Konami and Kojima. If it was just him pulling a publicity stunt, Konami wouldn't have removed KojiPro's name from their headquarters, and all mention of their involvement with MGS V. From Konami's press statement: “Konami has switched from a studio-based to a headquarters-based organization, so [Kojima Productions] wouldn’t be listed as a studio anymore. At this time, there are no additional updates to share.”

I'm not exactly sure why Kojima is in hot water. But, if I were to guess, the FOX engine was in development since 2010, and the only thing that Kojima has shown for it was the Ground Zeroes demo (which did very poorly in sales). That probably didn't go well with upper-management, especially since many of Konami's competitors have churned out games at greater frequency, within that time-frame. To put it in perspective, since 2010, seven Assassin's Creed games have been released by Ubisoft, while Naughty Dog has released Uncharted 2, 3, and TLOU. In addition, Uncharted 4 is scheduled for release later this year, and Naughty Dog has even started development planning for TLOU 2.

Kojima's a great developer, but he's not exactly fast with his work. The signs right now, seem to indicate that Konami believes they can do a better job in financially milking the franchise without his involvement.

Yup about time

Anyway, even if Konami were the ones who forced Kojima to think of an exit strategy, all of this was probably his idea. Is Konami publicly humiliating and extricating themselves from the only thing that keeps their corporation afloat? hard to believe, it's highly unlikely that they would be cruel to him in the months leading up to his biggest release ever.

Ground Zeroes didn't sell well? I could have sworn I remember reading that Konami were extremely happy with sales. Didn't it sell over a million or something?

Yea, I mean to be honest, whether he got fired or quit, none of it is my concern. As long as he's still working on MGSV I'm happy. All of it is strange, that why I think you could be right and we're all being trolled, but I feel the series should end after this game anyway, with Kojima leaving, then this game will indeed be the last true MGS game made, that makes me even more excited for MGSV.

If Konami continues the series, I certainly won't bash them and automatically come to the conclusion that the game will suck. I'll give them a chance, whether it is a reboot or has the Snakes involved or not.

What does suck though is that Silent Hills is probably never going to come out, or at least not with Kojima working on it.

:exactly::goodpost:

With his name on the cover or not I will still play the **** out of this game. Whatever happens TPP is the last MGS I will take "seriously" because I know Kojima will put some interesting stuff there. I hope the next games are just mindless fun like MGR

Ah okay, I guess it's how you look at it. Those are top notch sales for only a prelude in my opinion. I believe the game sold over a million worldwide and that's excluding digital sales, which I think this might have had a good amount of. But at the end of the day, it is the worst selling MGS main title game, so I guess it's how you look at it. Personally, I think a million plus sales for a demo is great.

Yeah, and the game did sell a lot more over time, especially with Steam downloads. But, it didn't debut so well.

Also everyone was aware it was a glorified demo. When the full game releases with the proper marketing, it'll be a completely different story.

Infact this was the best selling demo of all time... next to MGS2 haha
