Also, if I recall correctly, Ryan did find a lossless rip of the Escape theme and posted it somewhere pages back :lol. I'll have to search and find it again, but I don't think there was any noticeable difference in quality from the YouTube vids.......

Yes that's true, the motiff part with the PFFFF PF PF PF :lol

I don't mind the bombastic element though, it's a trend today as the lame synthetic dnb drumming was in MGS2, I think the poor quality of the rips highlights the bombastic percussion more than it should.

Bear in mind, I'm not saying the MGS2 OST is bad by any means, just that it isn't in top spots in my personal ranking.

Isn't she the composer for the vocal tracks? The vocal tracks so far aren't suffering on MGSV imo. Listening to the interview, she seems to be taking credit for the in-game music as well, I'm confused. I googled her and she's involved in many soundtracks, but only with vocal tracks as well. Castlevania for example has its own composer, why is she suddenly taking credit for the in-game music of the entire franchise? Wtf?

Besides isn't the main composer for in-game music still working on MGSV/GZ? I don't get why the banana kid got so much attention when apparently Williams is still in charge, and you can hear GW's very clearly in the GZ soundtrack.

Well the trailers are more cinematic than ever, almost like music videos, I'm not complaining, that last one with the new order was awesome.

Huh?

You're spazzing out bro, take it easy, MGS2 is cool, everything's cool, everything works here, there there....
Joke is on you, my favorite MGS is MGS3. Always and forever. I like 2, but 3 is a truly brilliant game to me. Granted...I wish Kojima would stop bastardizing that game to hell. Bad enough he ruined MGS2 in MGS4 (the subtext), but MGS3? noooooooo :monkey2

I'm done following this overly contrived canon since MGS 4. I'm just going to take TPP for what it is. So, there's a mech that looks just like REX and is possibly more powerful? Meh.

MGS4 is really where I did draw the line, and then PW is where I quickly drew the line with prequels in this seris.

Well, from the interview, it sounds like Rika Muranaka actually had a hand in the hiring process:
I don't know why I don't believe her, I mean, Is she sort of a cast director for the soundtracks? Did she also hire TAPPY in MGS1? Why would the composer of the vocal tracks also be tasked with hiring for the in-game music when that's like 90% of the music for the game, that simply makes no sense.

If by any chance she's credited with hiring GW, why should she be credited with creative input for the in-game music? When it was GW or that supposed ghost producer who composed the in-game music for all the sequels.

IDK, her statements just sound fishy and random to me.

Also, if I recall correctly, Ryan did find a lossless rip of the Escape theme and posted it somewhere pages back :lol. I'll have to search and find it again, but I don't think there was any noticeable difference in quality from the YouTube vids.......
Yeah I got them from him, but they weren't really lossless, they were FLACS of game rips.

FYI in case anyone missed it like I did, the Collector's Edition of Phantom Pain is now available for PO on Amazon

Y'know, this just hit me, this figure could technically be in-canon with the MGS universe since he's Big Boss's Kojima's idol after all.

The glorification of Che was the worst thing ever in PW. The real man was no hero. I wonder if Kojima actually believed that drivel.

Yeah, it was pretty cringe worthy how Kojima painted him in such a holy pedestal. Note that I said Kojima, not Big Boss, as the game went out of it's way to point out that Che was an admirable figure. :lol

MGS1 has the best soundtrack closely followed by MGS2, if nothing it's the period music that sets it apart and gives it the contextual character and that newer atmospheric style soundtracks lack.

I find MGS1 and MGS2 respectively sound exactly how they should.

MGS1 has a lot of charm with it's midis, but "The best is yet to come" in it's own way is the biggest cornerstone theme of the entire series.

As for MGS2, I can't think of hearing it a different way at all. I for one, love the intro theme... it's very Hollywood yes, but it was a modernized version of the Tappy theme and done perfectly. It's just a shame that theme is gone due to copyright infringement.

There's a lot of good tracks in MGS2, I especially like the theme whenever they talk about the Patriots and the interiors of Arsenal.

MGS3 was almost more of the same with MGS2, although it felt more "Jungle" sounding.

MGS1 and MGS2 both have great music. I think MGS1 music for the areas are great, but at times i think it can be a bit distracting. I think MGS2 gets the tone much better. The music is much more chilled and relaxed. The music in MGS2 makes you feel like the music is reflecting what the character is doing, where as the music in MGS1 reflects the area you are in. So if you are being super sneaky in MGS1 and theres big epic music playing it doesnt always feel right.

Ground Zeroes music must be bad. Because ive maybe played 40+ hours of it and the only music i remember is from Raidens mission because i heard it in MGRising.

You nailed the feel of the MGS1 soundtrack, it represents Shadow Moses very well, it gives you a feel being surrounded by cold, hard, deadly environments and being antagonized by them, you're behind enemy lines, it's supposed to be unsettling imo, which is why I have that OST in a pedestal as an untouchable masterpiece :lol you also nailed the MGS2 feel, which is why I like it the least :lol
