I like Greg Miller.
Good one
I really like the steelbook we get from shopto.net
I've never seen a title like this from a major game critic site:
I wonder when Hot Toys is going to get on this hype.
They won't, the hype will be long gone when they give a ****I wonder when Hot Toys is going to get on this hype.
Yeah, I'm surprised. Big Boss is my second favorite fictional character so as long as the game got okay reviews, I was going to buy it, but I can't say I'm disappointed to hear it's so good! I was actually worried about intimate character moments being sacrificed for the open-world, but then I remembered Red Dead Redemption, which may have had the best story-telling in a game I played. I haven't played anything else by Rockstar, but I heard a lot of there other stuff is also really good. I loved L.A. Noire, but I thought I heard that Rockstar was in an assisting role for its production, so I don't know if that counts.
I am definitely excited to play the game as I am sure the game play is going to be amazing/innovative. However I am really conflicted, I feel as if part of the soul of Metal Gear Solid is gone. The humor and long cut-scenes (skippable) have been greatly diminished, no Codec conversations, No David Hayter (you hired an A-List Hollywood Actor only to have him deliver less lines than previous games. I am okay with change as its a necessary part of life/progression for anything really but something just feels empty on this one. On the other hand I am truly excited to finally see Big Boss's descent into Villainy.

Uncharted 2 was the other game I was going to mention. It's a different type of game, so I can't say one's better. Although, if we were to deconstruct Drake's character, he's a kind of nuts—cracking jokes while killing thousands of people! Still love him though. I haven't played it in many years, but the "hand puppet" cell scene cracks me up just thinking about it right now.
That sounds great. After playing Ground Zeroes, and knowing what you said, it's probably going to be my favorite game of all time. I don't know how you felt about the news regarding the lack of dialogue, but that was something I was happy about. I'm really interested to learn how they'll use the facial acting!
PS4! MGSV will be the first game I'm buying for it! How about you?
That's not true though, a recurring theme in reviews is that it's very MGS and that it enriches MGS w/o sacrificing what makes it MGS.but from the reviews, it seems to bear very little semblance to the other games in the series.
This again it was very clear PO was MGSV from the get go.It's interesting to note, that Kojima was actually developing this as an IP called Project Ogre, before he made it into another MGS.
Regarding the dialogue in MGSV, I'm with you, I prefer a lot less exposition that the previous games had, I think the lack of dialogue is most from Big Boss mostly, which I like. Kojima is doing what George Miller has done with Mad Max, building the story around Big Boss using other characters. I also like that Big Boss won't be as chatty as he was in previous games, it fits the character better in my opinion. Overall I like that Kojima is taking a more subtle approach with this game.
I'm pretty sure that is why TPP is so different, I've seen that happen with some games. It may be something else entirely, and then get turned into a familiar game. You also are right about the conversations...not sure myself though, though I wonder if maybe it'll be done differently this time.I share your sentiments, especially about David Hayter. I think TPP will be a good game, but from the reviews, it seems to bear very little semblance to the other games in the series. It's interesting to note, that Kojima was actually developing this as an IP called Project Ogre, before he made it into another MGS game. So, that may account for why it's so different in its execution.
What has me concerned the most, is the limited voice work and sparse cinematic cut-scenes that were mentioned in the reviews. I love gameplay, but MGS has always been a story-based experience, with enormous dialogues and set-pieces to go along with them. The lack of codec conversations is also pretty jarring, as they were some of the most fun things in MGS 1 to 4.
No doubt, it'll be just like what they did for Arkham City. After the game has been succeeded by other triple-A titles, Hot Toys will eventually do a reveal. Then again, they don't really give a damn about the VGM line, once there are Marvel figures to regurgitate.
I think Uncharted 2 is the most perfect game Naughty Dawg has made so far. I really liked Last of Us but I thought some of the gameplay clashed with the grounded, serious, realistic tone of that world, where in UC2, all the crazy jokes and mind blowing action set pieces all fit within the world Naughty Dawg created. Nathan Drake is basically the gaming Indiana Jones.
