On the bright side, there's still Witcher 3 to fall back on. There's tons to do in the Sandbox, and even the side-missions have well thought out stories. There are stories upon stories in that game, and everything you do has a purpose.

I'm not even done with Witcher 3.

Just started the mission to go get Kaz... meh. I like the whole day/night cycle... it's just that I honestly don't care about the situation happening... since they did such an awful job setting the story up... if you can call it that. It feels so detached from the rest of the series.

It makes MGS4 look like Goodfellas.

I have no reason to lie, the core gameplay is amazing but it doesn't mean much if you have use it in boring repetitive missions.

I just feel like crying on how massively disappointed I am, being a long time fan and all, especially since Pturtle said the pacing gets worse because it's already UNBEARABLE right now. I know the gameplay is great and all, but I for one, don't dig it as much. I wasn't smiling, I wasn't hi-fiving my imaginary friend (who serves me soda btw), I was just trying to beat one boring mission after another to get a tiny morsel of plot development.

Like I said, the intro was brilliant and I actually shed a tear on how good it was. It just makes the pain even worse.

Same here. And it's not that great an open world game either compared to others. You don't chat with NPCs or hunt the animals or have side missions other than side ops which are essentially the same as the main missions. You can't quick travel.l and everywhere looks the same

It's just an empty sandbox with a handful of locations sepereated by annoying outpost.

How hard would it have been to have some rebels with characters for Snake to interact with? It's just him and voiceless faceless bad guys and repeat

You can fast travel,sort of...
Im still early in the game since i haven't played today,but as far as i know once you finish a mission and want to explore further you can just call the Helicopter to pick you up and drop you somewhere else as long as you have reached the location allready and unlocks fast travel option.

Agree about the outposts.I wish they could be like any other sandbox game,wipe out the soldiers and you wouldn't have to worry about them again.

On mission 42 now and the game somehow manages to get even worse. It's almost insulting.

I think once most people beat this game it's really going to get ripped to shreds by the gaming community.

It will people are going to blast the **** out of Kojima.

Never played Rising but I've been wanting to play it for years now, I'm waiting for a PS4 remastered edition.

You never played Rising???? The game looks pretty decent, and it already runs at 60 fps on PS3. I'd say it's worth a go.

MGS1, 2, and 3 were masterpieces. At least we still have those and no amount of crap and taint its' legacy. Ok, maybe it could.

Kojima's already soiled on MGS3's legacy, and he probably soiled on it MORE in this game. MGS 1 and 2 have been soiled as well. Still some great games, but they don't deserve what the sequels have done story wise.

Like MGS4, could be the hype. Some MGS fans are also very impressionable, while some are just pathetic nostalgic losers (I'm the latter).

I for one, will reserve the real verdict once I beat the campaign. I do believe there's some MGS2 level genius going on here, but you'll just have to grind to death to reach it.

It's hands down, my GOTY if that means anything . Except for some Easter Eggs, you don't even need to play the previous two games, it's very welcoming to newcomers. And surprisingly, even with that, it still builds on the narrative of the series.

Well, I just installed TPP, but I'll be playing it later tonight (it's way too bright right now). I wonder if this game suffered from studio interference by Konami. It's unlike Kojima to make a game, without a decent narrative, and from what you guys have been saying, it's very shocking. I mean, I wasn't expecting MGS V to have a great story in relation to canon, but this sounds even worse than what I imagined...

You know what, that wouldn't surprise me. Not just with Konami's recent track record this year, but companies have done that before.

My LE for MGS V just came, and the packaging is very disappointing. I was expecting a pleather box, but it's just textured cardboard. The stitchings are printed on... like it was done on Photoshop. The steel book sucks (generic CGI art). Game cover sucks (generic CGI art). Half-scale hand isn't big enough. I hope the $100 I spent was enough to justify the cost of the behind-the-scenes Blu Ray .

You have to be kidding me, wow. That's just pathetic, and cheap : $100 my ass. I don't know what's worse, that box being textured cardboard or the steelbook, which we already knew about.

Im completely stuck in this game now. Im on a boss fight, i can survive 2 seconds. And im insta-killed. I've upgraded armor, wear a shield, 1 hit connects and im dead. And the AI is a perfect shot.

I was so excited for it because I couldn't wait to play as Old Snake, and then I was bummed because of the 'stache! I got used to it though, since all the Detroit cops that I grew up with had mustaches, and they were pretty cool people. The Detroit cops now aren't nice at all (or at least the ones I know), so playing as Old Snake keeps my memories of them alive!
