IIRC there was Stealth camo in 4. You need to beat the game or something.

I mean we have the insane iDroid mixed with cassette tapes. It's a little baffling. Wish it was more like 3 in that regard.

Oh I know, MGS1 has stealth camo too, but I mean canon to the story. Only MGS2 kind of explained the no camo thing, well for Snake at least :lol

Quite a few of buzzwords being thrown around.

MGS2 boss battles (save for a couple) aren't anything to brag about (MGS3 and 4 are far better at that), or in general for that matter, having said that, Quiet's "boss battle" was very weak, although I hesitate to call it that.

Here it was said how ****** the launch trailer was... That wasn't the case, then it was said what a ****** pacing and how ****** the tapes were, that wasn't the case, then how utterly terrible the soundtrack is, ditto, it seems this thread is becoming reactionary/contrarian to the facebook hive mind, everything is the worst evah because of buzzwords, I expected this to happen regardless of how the game turned out, so I will doubt the criticism until I see it for myself, but I honestly don't see the story being any worse than MGS2, but at this rate I will finish it in like a month since I can only play like 2 hours a day.

About the tech, there aren't really any anachronisms.

I understand why people hate the story or feel underwhelmed, its not what they were expecting, and Kojima straight up lied about most of it in interviews. While TPP fits into the timeline perfectly, the story is very self contained. However I think when you step back and judge TPP for what it is, it has one of the best stories in the series.

Oh, man! It's going to take you awhile to finish! I'm a complete idiot that has circles under his eyes because of sacrificing sleep to play. It's not that I'm rushing, I just haven't enjoyed a piece of entertainment this much in so long. I really hope you enjoy it.

I'm really enjoying the story so far, but I don't know if it's going to beat MGS or MGS3 in that. It's kind of hard to top the plot of the first MGS because of how well it build up this mythology. I've been too hard on it (probably because I get annoyed of the bashing of new games, but that's a stupid thing to do). Even though I prefer MGS3's more intimate story, MGS has the best plot in the series (in my opinion).

i dunno, i keep getting bored and putting it down for a while. while i think the gameplay is great i just am not captivated by the game. it looks great and i like doing the missions but i have to relax and do other stuff, im not glued to the game like i should be.

Yea, I MGS1 is the best in the series, its perfect.

I'm so glad you said MGSV has one of the best stories, because I'm loving this game so much.

I break them down like this so far, but I have a ways to go with MGSV:

Gameplay:

1.MGSV
2. MGS3
3. MGS4

Plot:
1. MGS
2. MGS3 (I would put MGS2 as second, but I think there's too much bogging it down—still good though.)
3. MGSV

Music:
1. MGS
2. MGS3
3. MGS2

Atmosphere:
1. MGS
2. MGS3
3. MGSV

Characters:
1. MGS
2. MGS3
3. MGS2

Protagonist:
1. MGSV- Venom Snake (I know, I know. No one will agree with me on these. I'm probably way too hasty with this one, but I just love Kiefer Sutherland for this role. I'll change it later if the character isn't to my liking.)
2. MGS3- Naked Snake
3. MGS- Solid Snake

Antagonists:
1. MS2- The Patriots (Do they count?)
2. MGS- Foxhound
3. MGS3

Kiefer Sutherland is the best thing to happen to Big Boss. I think by the end of the game you’ll end up liking Big Boss even more.

If MGSV had more cutscenes and better boss battles, it would have been a perfect game.

I read that you didn’t like Skull Face’s Monologue by the way, I totally get why you hated it, but I loved it. Skull Face is one of my favorite “villains” in the series, he’s over the top, theatrical, and feels like he’s straight out of a 60s Bond film.

I'll give it another chance! Sometimes I write stuff because I don't want to be labelled as a fanboy, but I don't care anymore. I genuinely wasn't liking it, but I wish I didn't write that because I don't want to give into negativity.

Oh, man! I'm so happy that you said that about Big Boss! Where I'm at right now, I think this is the best action game I have ever played without a doubt, regardless of any story qualms (which I don't really have any). You know I'm in the MGS3 camp as to what I thought was the best game of the series, but I can understand your pick. Those Eva and the Boss moments, Big Boss as a protagonist, the setting, and CQC emphasis put it on top for me. With MGSV's allowance for me to do everything I want with my favorite character, along with the performances and cinematography, its beating it for me. Just ordering around D-Dog and petting him when he helps me out, or running around battle while commanding Quiet are such amazing experiences, and it's getting me attached to these characters in a way that only games can do.

MGS3 is right behind MGS1 for me, that game is incredible.

The buddies aspect of the gameplay really gives the game that "next-gen" feel. It's like the Batmobile of the game except it doesn't overstay it's welcome.

That's a nice way to break them down Bane, without having finished MGSV:

Gameplay:
1. MGSV This is the only aspect I'm sure of without finishing it.
2. MGS4
3. MGS1

Plot:
1. MGS1
2. MGS3
3. MGS4

Music:
1. MGS1
2. PW
3. MGS2

Atmosphere:
1. MGS1
2. MGS2
3. MGSV

Characters:
1. MGS1
2. MGS3
3. MGS4

Protagonist:
1. Solid Snake
2. Big Boss

Antagonists:
1. MGS1 all of them
2. MGS3 all of them
3. MGS2 all of them.

One thing is blurry to me.

I thought Zero wanted Big Boss framed for nuking the US in Peace Walker thus ****ing him over. Why is he so eager to keep him alive now? It seems like they're buddies the way Zero was talking about and to him on the cassettes.

Finished TPP yesterday, loved and enjoyed the game so much ( spent + 75 hours), However, the ending and final plot twist was way predictable (In fact It's what I've been thinking all this time since the presentation of the game and first trailer in 2012.. Except for one small detail and surprise :wink1:) This time, Kojima gave us ALL clues from the very beginning ..:(

It's a 9 out 10 for me.:lecture

+ Gampeplay wise (best in the series, the most replayable and adictive MGS by far)
- Pacing and storytelling; I've missed more cutscenes, and the main plot is'nt bad, but is'nt great either

And yes!, Kieffer Sutherland as Big Boss is one of the best decisions that Kojima could have taken.

My personal MGS Top ranking:

1/MGS3
2/MGSV TPP
3/MGS

I really need to know what Boss Battles in MGS2 were truly innovative? Most of them consisted of just aim and shoot while they run around the map. MGS1 and 3 have the best boss battles in the series hands down, and MGS4 is mixed, some great boss battles and some generic ones.

The Skulls fight almost felt like 4 Vamps from MGS2, and the Eli fight while being very easy, at least kept the tradition of one CQC fight.

I understand the tech being ridiculous for the time period, but in this case I give it a pass because most of the time it enhances the gameplay. MGS3 has stealth camo which we don’t even get to use in MGS4, thats pretty ridiculous :lol

Who said the boss fights in MGS2 were supposed to be innovative? You could say almost all the boss fights in the series are generic. MGS3's were all generic outside of The End. The Pain sucked, so did Fear and Fury... same with Volgin and Ocelot... even The Boss was generic to a degree... you're not really making a case that they aren't all that different than what's in MGS2.

Kiefer Sutherland is the best thing to happen to Big Boss.

He did such a fantastic job of staying mute.

Well, maybe not innovative but at least detailed boss battles that are more than just aim shoot repeat. Even MGSV gives you numerous options on how you want to take on some of the bosses.

MGS1 had Psycho Mantis, arguably the best boss battle of all time, Sniper Wolf battle, and the Liquid Snake CQC fight, MGS3 had the End, another one of the greatest boss battles of all time that you could complete in numerous ways, the Boss fight was incredible due to the setting, the use of Snake eater, CQC and gunplay while also adding stealth.

MGS4 had the epic and very cinematic Rex vs Ray battle, and possibly my favorite Boss fight of the series, the Snake vs Liquid Ocelot CQC fight, each round had the next game in series theme playing while you knock Liquids Psyche out of Ocelot. Each game in the series had memorable boss that were well thought out.

MGS2 is the only game in the series where the boss battles are extremely straightforward and generic, they lack personality if that makes sense. Solidus vs Raiden was the best boss fight in that game, and I really didn't think it was that great at all.

True he doesn't speak much in the game, but when he does, he's awesome, and performance at the end of the game was fantastic. If they make MGS 6 I hope they bring him back.

I hope the main series is dead in the water. No more bad writing, switching voice actors around just because you can, and **** the parasites... I'd rather have Nanomachines back. I can't take another Kojima Metal Gear, I just can't.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

If only Christopher Randolph had gotten the boot too, he was the absolute weakest link in the voice acting.

When was Ocelot handsome? :lol

Baker Ocelot > Randolph Huey it's not even close .

Knew people would hate this game lol but I'm guessing the reactions the spoilers I read are true.
