I didn't immediately hate on it when I first started it, since there was no story at all yet :lol

I don't see how MGS2 gets hated on so bad, and this gets a pass.

I didn't hate Quiet like I thought I would, and she was the only character worth a damn in the entire game.

What pass is this getting? I've checked multiple sites and most of the fans are freaking out about the story and the ending. The majority hate the ending.

Quiet was awesome.

I'm giving this game the benefit of a doubt. But, I just wish if there were more sequences with blood and gore. There are some parts that play out like a horror story, but there's so much freakin' grinding in-between. One thing's for sure, even if the ending is crud, this game was meant for those who were truly dedicated to seeing it to the end.

That's one of my main problems with the game, way too much grinding, it's seems a lot of games these days are being made like that and people love it for some reason, just look at Destiny :lol

Well, everyone hated MGS2 for Raiden... how is this any different? I think Venom Snake not being Big Boss ruins any immersion to the character and replay value. I feel the same way with MGS4 with Liquid Ocelot.

I just don't know why we were given a player's avatar, it doesn't fit the context of the plot at all... it made sense in MGS2 at least. But at least with that, it wasn't some soap opera level plot device with plastic surgery.

They're White Knighting Kojima on Reddit, but there's a good amount of hate toward the story/ending.

I liked clueless, whiny MGS2 Raiden much more than Venom Snake. At least Raiden had more personality, and having Snake not talk in this game doesn't add the bond toward his character at all. :dunno

I miss heavy character narratives, the military industrial complex, and meaningful character deaths... for two games now, we've gotten this Anime, Fantasy, **** fest. These games are no longer aimed at the old school fans anymore.

I remember people were complaining that there were little Codec chats in MGS4, and this one went further by having none. Even MPO had more chats than this. You can easily discover some crazy easter eggs in MGS1, 2, 3 by just calling your support team.

Also, I swear the interrogation lines from soldiers are fitting for a portable game. Why have the enemies grumble one word with subs when in MGS3, they all had at least 3 full sentences each? That's so backwards.

Codec is completely redundant in PW and TPP... when it's been such a cornerstone of the series. But magical powers, burning men, throat parasites, bombs in the vaj is good writing!

It fits the context perfectly. This Snake is supposed to be you, it breaks the fourth wall, its a “thank you" to the fans, its fits within the overall canon, and at the end of the day Venom Snake is a phantom, really paralleling Skull Face. I get why people hate it, but its one of the best endings to me, no so much because of the shock value, but how crazy it is yet works so perfectly.

I also liked the Liquid Ocelot twist. Ocelot being controlled by Liquid’s arm was now of the most ridiculous things that happened in the series.

Wow, I really can't understand why you're justifying it. I just look at it as another **** you to players.

Never thought we'd get something worse than Nanos.

What if MGSV is not MGS5? Is it beyond Kojima to trick us like that? We know V in context of the game is codename for a character. So technically it is Metal Gear Sold " character name here " in the literal sense.

i highly doubt that on a 75 hour game. also, kojima is out of the konami/mgs business, so for him to be faking mgs5 on a 3rd installment is very unlikely.

Raiden's personality was amusing at times, too, and made some sense in the narrative. I'm not sure what's the deal with Big Boss not speaking in this game...he was quieter than Solid Snake, I think, but I dunno

I can't make anything out of this thread anymore, or MGS V. I know I'll have to play it for myself, but still, I'm at a loss. Something worse than nanomachines? I agree Pliss, good god.

Kojima is a troll, and has been deceiving us for a long while. Plus, it is rather odd that that he switches to roman numerals instead of regular numbers...but as Jason said, it's probably unlikely.
