Gif is pretty accurate to the sandbox in the game.

Yes.

Patch 1.06 just went live, and besides bug fixes and nerfing an easy way to farm fuel resources, they added a way to make Quiet a buddy again. While combing through the game’s code, redditor Brotigan noticed something weird:

Metal Gear Solid V Patch Allows Players To Recruit An Old Buddy Again

Why would the game be counting how many times you finish the mission?!

So Brotigan played the mission again several times, and on the seventh...

Metal Gear Solid V Patch Allows Players To Recruit An Old Buddy Again

Boom.

Load up the seventh mission of the game, Cloaked in Silence, and beat it seven times. Once you’ve done that, the game’s mission screen switches from [REPLAY] to [REUNION]. Then, finish the mission again and you’ll be able to have Quiet as part of the lineup. There’s not a cutscene to accompany this, however, so it doesn’t really change the way The Phantom Pain’s story plays out.

While I wasn’t able to personally verify this happening on my own save game, if you’re worried this is a joke, there’s plenty of videos showing otherwise. Metal Gear players on reddit, NeoGAF, and other places have verified this does work.

It doesn’t seem clear yet if you have to complete each mission the non-lethal route, but probably better to be safe than sorry.

As for the thread....

I mean after I complete the story...all of the side ops...if I do not play online....other than "S"ing everything....what else is there?

Like I can get Quiet back to do what?....go play Legacy of the Void. :p

Seriously? :slap

Basically what it sounds like.

After you get the 1/06 patch, play the mission...7 times to swap and once more to collect.

Wonder why they didnt just have something hidden like this from the start.
How many people complained to them that permanently losing her was stupid?
so the patched getting her back in.

You got that right.

Why 7 times? What a dumb requirement.

Really dumb.Like the Replay missions on extreme wasn't dumb allready.Im done though so i won't bother.Only thing im missing is turning into Demon Snake and Make a Nuke.Requires alot of time and Fuel Resources so i don't see the point even trying.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

I haven't played the game in weeks now. I haven't even finished it!

I'm on the missin where you have to get
Fireman Volgins
body :-O

I haven't finished it either, i stopped after the long ass chapter 1 credits with no desire to carry on after already knowing what happens. I might go back to finish it after the witcher just for the trophy

I'd rather replay Witcher 3 twice over (great game, great storyline, great everything), than play another second of MGS V. I finished V last month, and I haven't even touched it since then.

I'd rather play Arkham Knight over and over again, still a superior game than MGSV despite all the grievances. Looks 100x better too.

You got that right.

Why 7 times? What a dumb requirement.

I hate how this game is designed, like you're in some sort of metaverse, that's outside of the storyline. For example, being able to select and reply older missions - which is essentially like going back in time, with better equipment, and changing the future (what is this, Terminator?). That would've been like a time paradox in MGS 3. Although, the formula worked out well with Peace Walker, since it was just a portable game that focused on bite-sized missions, and portable gameplay.

All of that said, getting back Quiet makes no sense to the storyline, if there's no cinematic to complement it.
