Hey guys, what's going on in this thre... :slap

So, how about that Mk III? Been wondering if this new version will have similar features to the original (forearm shield, all the opening parts on the back of the legs, etc) or if it's been nerfed gimmick-wise...

Yeah we might do well to forget some pages :lol
I think its been nerfed.... which is ridiculous... this would have been the release to make the perfect MKIII

I think Hot Toys' design philosophy has been steadily moving away from the Gokin-style 'perfect transformation' of the older Iron Man figures and towards making a display piece with interchangeable bits and pieces - which I'm not going to pretend I'm entirely happy about, especially when their 1/4 Iron Man has all the bells and whistles the 1/6 figures used to have.

I didn't mind so much with the Mk 42, for example, because I thought the battle damage and articulation made up for it. Mk III here, on the other hand, is currently speculated to have no real torso articulation to speak of.

I want to love this thing, because I still think the first Iron Man movie's the best and because it fixes all the proportion and accuracy issues of the original, but it's making it hard for me to do so with so many features scaled back compared to a six-year-old figure - hate to say it but I'm feeling more and more like skipping this and trying to track down a Mk II Unleashed for a sensible price instead. I'll probably hold off on that until I see some reviews, though.

If anything I see this as a HOA display piece, designed to look better than the original and stand in the HOA bays
I'm waiting on reviews too, If its not great I wouldn't really be bothered if I decided to cancel my EX order

I hope they do the Blue Silver Centurion in Die Cast to differentiate at least from the SC.

I don't see this as them moving toward anything(the rumored lack of ab art) because the first mk3 didn't have any. So it would be more like they are going back to old not departing from it.

If you go back and look at all the complaining and requests for the mk3 to be remade 90% of it was the proportions and color. Hardy anyone wanted to see it remade for the articulation. Hot toys gave us exactly what we asked for in this one.

Me too. Not planning on doing any posing with this one.
Pose plans for mine are fairly basic ranging from visor open looking mean and moody (depends one the HS), firing the for arm rocket, anti personal pods deployed or have everything armed and ready in a museum pose... All pretty static which is good as I'm going to make everything round him and my other displays more dynamic looking

That's a good idea and I'm sure it will look great!

One thing I'd like to know, since the MKIII is an update of an old figure, is did they do away with the snap in back flaps like on later models or do they still snap in?
This was one sore point for me as I thought they were poorly designed and never closed or sat quite right. I can live without the ab articulation, (not all museum poses are bad) but I don't care for the old style flaps. Anyone got any input?

I know for sure the diecast 42 had the flaps in. Didn't pay attention to heartbreaker/silver centurion/starboost
