Bumping this thread... what do you guys think of the original Mark 3 now some years after you bought it?

I just took my original out the other day. Firstly it's amazing how far Hot Toys has come since '09 with these things. The other striking thing to me is that the original looks more maroon in color than red.

June or july it is! Screenshot_2015-04-13-19-18-36.jpg

i'm looking forward to having this classic suit for my collection. I dont have any of the original marks. The color doesn't bother me as i know HT never gets anything 100% right. As long as the suit is red and gold thats enough for me. I do hope we get a proper IM1 tony stark portrait though :lecture

Agreed! If they won't do that, at least give us the new IM2 one in helmet. Can't wait for this. Up there with Han and Chewie as my most anticipated for the year.

Does anyone reading/posting in here also have either of the original MKIII figures? I have the Battle Damaged version and always wanted to get a set of the articulated fingers for him. I've seen people post pictures but never knew what hands from which Iron Man armors would work and match paint color. Iv'e seen some on ebay from the MKIV & MKVI but prices tend to be kinda high. I did find a very cheap pair on a toy website from Iron Patriot parted out for cheap. I assume they're plastic and not die cast and the color looks pretty close, but he has the guards on the back of his hands. Anyone know if they're easily removable? Thanks and any info or suggestions would be appreciated... :)

This looks amazing, I'll most likely get it as I didn't get the original. That being said, the main gripe I had with the original is still present here, and that's the inability to pose the figure in the classic "firing repulsor" pose without it looking really awkward because the entire should armor rotates to the back when you do this. I've been hoping for so long that they figure out a way to make this look right, but they haven't yet. It's the one thing that really bums me out about the figure.

Yeah exactly. I mean, the figure is still amazing, but I've always wished they'd figure out a way to make that work better. Somehow attaching the shoulder armor to the torso/trapezius section instead of the arm so when the arm is raised the shoulder armor doesnt have to rotate back. Sideshow did something similar with their Clone Trooper armor, but obviously the complexity of an Iron Man is way beyond that.

I can certainly appreciate that concern. I plan on posing this in a Hall of Armor pose, so it won't be a concern for that pose. But I also have a Gantry and I am now wondering how it will look if I have the arms outstretched so they are in the arms of the gantry.

You'll be okay with the gantry pose (I'm assuming that means the arms just outstretched to the sides) It's when he reaches out in front of his body, making the "stop" repulsor firing pose. That's when the shoulder armor rotates to the back of the fig.

Well, this IS a figure. So it's gonna be hard to ever make it right for that pose without making it a statue specifically for it.
