I didn't say it was or wasn't iconic to the movie. I was just stating the fact he didn't do that pose in the movie.
Cool, that makes sense :)

And I wouldn't say that THAT image has left a big impression. Iron Man has been doing that landing pose in the comics

As you can see, copyrighted in 2006 top left corner. To years before IM1 came out

Perhaps I should have said that the movie promo image left a big impression on on even a wider audience who may not be as familiar with the comics. The comic image obviously made an impression on the movie makers which is why they used it and for those who love the comics the fact that the pose originated there is even more reason I suppose collectors like to sometimes pose their figures that way.

Now I can say I didn't even see that promo pic until after I saw the movie.
This one was shown at my theatre

That's actually the pose I want to put my figure in when he arrives! it Not sure how well I will be able to duplicated it, looks like to get it perfect I would have to pivot his torso or shoulders slightly and I am not sure the figure can do that. I may be able to achieve a more straight on version, we'll see.

Here you go dude, this is one of the recent photos of the HT Mark III in that pose:

The ground pound had a few different variations on screen, some having the knee touching the ground and others being more stretched out than technically kneeling. Like I said before, while most figs from the IV forward can basically pull it off, I still think that none have been properly able to achieve it because it'll either look wonky from one angle or another, not be able to look up, etc.

The benefits that this swap out piece offers are realistic proportions and contouring. It's the same type of thing as the Hulk Deluxe torso; you can lift the arms above the head of the previous Hulk and generally get in that pose, but the swap out body looks WAY more natural and anatomically correct. The main problem with some of the other armors that can generally pull it off is how long it looks in the midsection. When you extend the midsection to get articulation, it makes it a little longer which adds to the wonkyness. This new ab piece keeps it compact with realistic proportions.

I can say that I'm still a fan of the idea but I do think it could've been approached better, especially after seeing the pics of Optimus. I get why there couldn't be crunch articulation in this approach, but I don't know why they couldn't incorporate any movement at the diaphragm and waist.

I messed around with my 43 yesterday and while I probably could've tweaked it to get a few little things better (like the right foot), this is basically as good as you can get it (and it can't look upward whatsoever). Passable but the III's ab piece allows it to look natural like the screen shots I just posted.

Wow... The Mark 3 doesn't look to good in this one... Looks like the 6 actually... And HTs quality has gone down the drain.

Yup cancelled

Hey don't do that based on this image - this is not even HT. I was just trying to show the pose since we were on that topic. Yes it is mark 6 - but SH Figuarts. (6 inch figure)

:exactly: The III will be sexiness

Oh dude! I didn't know that!

Good thing you told me almost clicked the button :lol

You were joking, right? :lol

^ Is that even with crunching the abs on the Mk43?

Yeah the back is straight...

Is that where I'm going wrong? I see some peeps got it slightly better than mine in the 43 thread, but I thought the were cheating a little by turning the right knee outward to allow him to sit more upright. I tried to hyper-extend him in the midsection but it didn't seem like it wanted to go much further. I tweaked it a little after I took those last pics and I squeezed a couple more mm of range here and there. Maybe I can bend the midsection backwards more but I guess I was being too cautious. I try harder later :lol

Which head are you using? The light up head or face sculpt?

As I thought the light up head could get a better head tilt then that.

Idk was I joking? :wink1:

Yeah you should extend the torso first, swing the legs forward with that button thing and fiddle.

You'll get him looking up more like this:
