^Relax, they will fix your Supes. That is the worst paint rub i have seen on this figure. HT needs to ditch the plastic crap and just use foam for all figures. What's the big deal it's foam.:huh

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I got my Superman after 33 years of waiting and was quite astonished at the level of detail. After a few days of finding my perfect pose the thing that really bothered me was the cape, It came was messy & unbalanced whereas the movie cape had an elegant structure. I looked at some stills and videos of the real cape and saw that it had alot of folds which allowed it to expand or shrink as needed. I wanted a resting type pose so I tried to smooth out the wire kinks and began shaping. I slowly worked in some folds with my fingers and a bic pen while maintaining an overall balance to bring the size down and look more in scale with the body. I made it so the sides curved out as well. It's not perfect but you can see that it makes a big difference and really sells it from all angles. Now I'm really in love with this figure as the cape has character and scale. I encourage you take the time to work with your cape as it has the potential to really make Supes pop!

Excellent pose Nova-Force!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Yeah, and in fairness it is a "check your brain at the door" type movie. That film didn't need complex, three dimensional characters and a logically coherent storyline with lots of subtext and symbolism. Superman and Kryptonians beating the ____ out of each other in the city was enough.

hahahaha

I tried to rewatch the whole collection. Good Lord do those movies ever suck now. Not their fault considering they are over 30 years old, but damn....did the script really need to insult the intelligence of everyone over the age 6?

Yes, they did a really good job on the pattern for the tights and trunks. The cape is not a very good pattern though. I agree that the blue is a pretty close representation to how it APPEARS on screen, but it's definitely not the correct color when you see the fabric in person.

I don't mind the color they picked though - I just wish it had been less sparkly because the original stuff didn't glitter that much. It had a subtle sheen to it.
For what it's worth, I can tell you that the original fabric DOES photograph more blue than it appears in person, so when you see pics of it - you would be fooled into thinking that it was more blue.

Here's a pic of the HT Reeve next to my 1/3 costume which was made with fabric that accurately matches the color of the original "hero" suit that I saw.

After examining various info about the suit, i'd say the blue sheen and pattern of the tights are very close to what was used on screen.

you could always give the mattel suit a try ,its non sparkly and slightly thicker ,its nicely made and fits great even has slightly longer sleeves to cover the wrist joints easyer ,the emblem is nicely intergrated on the suit ,it looks like its part of the suit ,id recomend useing the hot toys trunks ,as they are much better cut ,i used the mattel belt as it matches the yellow of the emblem better ,sorry for the poor photo but it will give you a rough idea ,theres other pics in this thread of amused jester cool bad superman custom useing the mattel suit ,you should defo check them out cheers chris:)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

That does look good (but maybe a little too "royal blue" imho). The Mattel chest logo looks more accurate than the HT effort though!

I want to but overall keeping it on is probably better.
