Definitely just go for it and pick up the Egon they're offering now. The slime is hardly what I'd consider a dealbreaker as far as fitting in with the rest of the figures, just looks like a little bit of grime and wear on the uniform. if it was covered in marshmallow or drenched in pink slime...that might be a different case. Plus it's likely the slime could come off with just a bit of acetone. The only negative is this Egon doesn't come with a PKE meter, which is pretty criminal.

And the figure itself is just incredible, it's a great likeness, great details on the uniform and pack, and great articulation. I'm beyond excited to pick up any and all figures they offer. It's been an awesome year to be a child of the 80s with NECAs TMNT line and now Ghostbusters.

All the gear looks good but those sculpts are way to cartoony. Luckily Spenser will have those taken care of.

What's cool is, if you go the customized head route...which I think I most certainly will, you could buy four Ray's when they go on sale in the fall and not have to wait the year or however long it might take to get all four guys. Need to make nametags for them too I suppose, but it'd be pretty minor work to avoid such a ridiculously long wait for a full team.

Is there any difference between the ones on Matty Collector and the ones they gave away at SDCC? You can't find one on eBay for under $35.

It is beyond me why the MOTU stuff sells out so fast. Is it really that popular? I mean come on, could it possibly be better than one of the greatest comedies ever made?

Shhhh! Just be thankful Ghostbuster fans will have a window wider than 20 minutes before the figures sell out.

After hearing all the horror stories about MattyCollector, i was relieved when ordering a second Egon this morning was entirely painless, well besides him ringing up for nearly $30, and quick. Hopefully all future purchases will be the same.

Yeah, I suppose. I too hope that the line will endure and will be relatively easy to purchase them as they come along. That site really has some issues ,though.
Frankly, I don't think I will ever understand the appeal of MOTU in any form. Those boys are showing a bit too much leg for my taste.

Also, the MOTUC figures didn't start selling out right away, the first releases took longer... but as the word got out people started snapping them up like gang busters.

Did you see the planning for the 6"? It will take almost a year to have all the team and there's nothing in January and February...

Dont blame Matty, blame Billy Murray. They wanted him to be first outta the gates with Slimer but he took forever to sign off.

Nope, unlike hero, those are exactly the same...

Yes, it is that popular... GB fans are a whole 'nother kind of breed though...
very unpredictable, unlike MOTU fans... that are very predictable...
so Mattel will have a hard time with this license me thinks...

I thought that was weird too... maybe if things go right, they'll bump some figures?...

I collect Motuc too and I must say some figures are great. I don't like them because I like the cartoons or comics that I didn't watch and read since I was a child. I just find them cool.

Concerning Ghostbusters team, I'm not sure I could buy those figures without a little interest for the film. After all, if you except their proton packs, they're just average joes. So I hope there will be lots of ghosts and maybe the car to recreate "the ghosbusters universe" like the vintage toyline. That's how this toyline works for me.

Here's a handy release schedule for Ghostbusters, I didn't realize 12" Ray was coming out in just a couple weeks. That's cool.

Really sucks that we'll have to wait a whole year to get the four guys(and then on top of that, Peter is a slimed version and a bit more heavily slimed than Egon it appears), and even get Walter Peck before Venkman...but then the 12" Vankman is going to be the third released. I don't really get it. I doubt anyone would complain if they bumped these up to monthly releases.

I guess Mattel knows more about toy distribution than me, but I don't see how they expect to maintain interest to get a very deep line with this kind of schedule.

TNI reported different dates for the 12-inch figures in their SDCC Mattel panel report

Ghostbusters
There will be a new figure every other month or so. Egon is up first, available on Matty in August.

In October is Ray, with the logo cost with slash circle.

In December, with ghost trap, is Winston Zedmore.

In March, 2010, Walter Peck, in a crispy update suit. He comes with ghost containment unit.

In May - Bill Murray! Peter Venkman! The final version of the figure will be wearing gloves and have pants over the boots.

In addition to the planned 6 inch line above, there will be a 12 inch Movie Masters line on Matty. Egon available later this year. Ray around the new year. Venkman will be available in April. In July is Winston.

I hope the earlier dates are correct, but I suspect Mattel would be advertising the Ray preorder if it were only 2 weeks away.
