Better. :)

So what bodies are you planning to use?

I'm guessing Narrow TT for Venkman and Stantz and Slim TT for Spengler. Besides the padding for the first two of course.

Thanks for new photos War-Gar! He does look more like Dan with the goggles on...just a little on the mannequin-like and lifeless side of him...

This is definitely a customizer's project, not a collector's out-of-the-box deal like Batman/Joker. You need to spend some money to get these guys worthy of standing on today's shelves.

I went in knowing I would be spending at least as much on improvements as I was on the original figure. I really bought Ray for the pack, the gear and the flight suit.

These are not acceptable figures "as is". But as a base for some of the harder-to-make parts, they're great.

If anyone here got that Century Nicholson Joker, you know what I mean.

I think yeah your right its not an out of the box figure and people expecting it to be will be very dissapointed. That would kind of annoy people but lets look at this way if it was a 130 or even a 150 dollar figure and they got the sculpt wrong or the body wrong or more importantly the equipment people would be p((ed off even more so. I think the fact that they are 60 dollars each gives people a lot of leeway on the extra expensives to customise them. I mean what a headsculpt is 40 -55 a tt body 30 - 40 and maybe the extras about 20 - 30. So your looking at about 130 - 160. Not bad considering that most ht figures go for that or above right off the bat with no gaurentee of accuracy.

They did get the most hardest parts right i.e the proton pack, trap etc. I think if they had gotten that wrong it would have been a no no for me anyway because those would have been the trickiest parts to customise. But in fairness they nailed those so that alone makes it worth getting. As it stands i see the headsculpt, belt, pads, body not really being an issue tbh. I think for 60 they did do a good job. They were probably limited by the quality of the raw material items they could use with the figure by the price they set the item at.

I guess I'm gonna have to build my own elbow pads -- I can't find anything online that will work.

Anyone have any leads?

Also, as long as I'm asking about parts, is the zipper on the GB boots unique or are there real boots that have that zipper down the side? Likely gonna have to mod that onto some Newline boots.

Actualy i have made some elbowpads. WIll try to post a pics as soon as possible.

as for the boots, i not seen any good leather 1s that have zips, i got ones with lases that i like. i may add a smaller zipper to the side somehow. i had a pic of the boots and u cud see both zipper and laces on them.

New Line has released some early pattern side-laced WWII German Fallschirmjäger boots that might look good, if you're not going for total SA. Laces are on the outside of the boots, though, insides are smooth. Not exactly the same, but very nice looking boots anyway.

Goggles do help, but mannequin, yes. Sculpt's pretty worthless. It's kind of odd to see such amazing detail on the pack and then look at the sculpt and web belt. It's like they're from two different figures and time periods.

Eager to see those, Seb! A lot of us are gonna need those.

I did see those boots, and some others that would work. Guess we'll have to just paint a little silver faux zipper down the side.

Quick question for those that have him already... How pliable is the head? More specifically, if it was heated could it be re-shaped (squished) so that it doesn't look so long? That's my biggest problem with it is that he looks like he has a two-foot tall head...

i went ahead and bought the 12" but i'm just going to display it as is...i don't have the time and money to make all of the improvements.

Actually, if you see my pics, I'm using a regular TT with HT Godfather Fat suit and looks good.
So i'm using regular TT for Ray and Winston, and Narrow TT for Venkman and Spengler. The Slim TT is shorter than the other TT so it won't work for Egon.

Sweet!! Can't wait!!

The Boots are a bit tricky... specially when you want to find 4 sets of the same... specially because I want some with laces, not molded ones...

Here's a few I've found, but haven't decided on which ones yet...

im so looking foward to getting all 4 6 inch figures. i still got my old "extreme GB's" ecto 1. STILL works! got the lights and sounds that never stopped working since 1997! loud as heck!

yeah i may change frm dragon to hot toys bods too, its jst the gloves that im stuck on, iwant to use darth mauls as they are perfect but i only got 1 pair, which are on my darth maul fig already. i have 4pairs of dragon gloves which are cool but wont fit ht i been told bodys.

what do u consider tricky those boots kuzeh? or did u mean jst finding 4 sets the same tricky? i knw wat you mean tho, but i quite like those ww2 german boots that mudshark posted.

i think these are the ones i have,. i jst got mine off ebay along while back.

Pretty happy with mine.
Dont think HT couldve done much better on the packs or trap.
Thats amazing to contemplate really.
Who wouldve thought Mattel wouldve raised the bar that far.
Of course HT wouldve blown them out of the water on everything else.
I think the included pads can be salvaged.
Its certainly possible for Mattel to up its sculpt quality if it chooses and compete with the high end boys.
But over all good value for the price.

Would anyone mind giving me a short primer on True Type bodies? Like I said before, never done any custom bashing of any sort.

I've been looking around for some to buy, and I found a couple at eBay pretty cheap since they've been mutilated and are missing hands, feet, and a head...should I consider that a deal breaker? Or will there be an easy workaround for the hands and feet? Are all types of appendages compatible with any body? Like Narrow Shouldered, Slim...can any hands and feet be used with any bodies?

Where does everyone else buy their bodies?

hey spartan, how ru guna save the elbow pads? im jst wondering what some ppl are doin to make em look decent. im have some made so.

also, i still dont understand why mattel didnt use the 4horsemen to do the12" sculpts aswel as the 6"ers, they would have been alot better ithink. well esp ray, in all honesty im sort of happyier with the other 3 sculpts,

also, in the pics we saw of the12" venkman, does he come with the slimed head, or are they releasing a 12" slimed venkman??

What really makes the pads look bad and out of scale is the arm strap. Take the actual pad portion itself off the strap and glue it on a
curved piece of plastic. Once pressure is actually used on the pad itself it begins to look like the screen version.(imo)
What Mattel provided is actually the best basis for an accurate pad.
I think the original pads used were sports/volleyball pads and nothing else exists in 1/6th that is close at all.
The only other possibility is for someone to sculpt and cast something more accurate with texture in the sculpt itself.
Not too hard for some of the talented folk on this board(but then we'd have to wait a year or more and deal with lost pm's stories etc etc ad nauseum:rolleyes:)

ahh right i see what you mean. cant wait to see my ray upclose when they arrive.

im jst disapointed that they are using the same bodys etc for the 6" figs, different hand poses would have been cool.
