This is definitely a customizer's project, not a collector's out-of-the-box deal like Batman/Joker. You need to spend some money to get these guys worthy of standing on today's shelves.
I went in knowing I would be spending at least as much on improvements as I was on the original figure. I really bought Ray for the pack, the gear and the flight suit.
These are not acceptable figures "as is". But as a base for some of the harder-to-make parts, they're great.
If anyone here got that Century Nicholson Joker, you know what I mean.
I guess I'm gonna have to build my own elbow pads -- I can't find anything online that will work.
Anyone have any leads?
Also, as long as I'm asking about parts, is the zipper on the GB boots unique or are there real boots that have that zipper down the side? Likely gonna have to mod that onto some Newline boots.
Actualy i have made some elbowpads. WIll try to post a pics as soon as possible.

Thanks for new photos War-Gar! He does look more like Dan with the goggles on...just a little on the mannequin-like and lifeless side of him...

New Line has released some early pattern side-laced WWII German Fallschirmjäger boots that might look good, if you're not going for total SA. Laces are on the outside of the boots, though, insides are smooth. Not exactly the same, but very nice looking boots anyway.
Better.
So what bodies are you planning to use?
I'm guessing Narrow TT for Venkman and Stantz and Slim TT for Spengler. Besides the padding for the first two of course.

I did see those boots, and some others that would work. Guess we'll have to just paint a little silver faux zipper down the side.
Pretty happy with mine.
Dont think HT couldve done much better on the packs or trap.
Thats amazing to contemplate really.
Who wouldve thought Mattel wouldve raised the bar that far.
Of course HT wouldve blown them out of the water on everything else.
I think the included pads can be salvaged.
Its certainly possible for Mattel to up its sculpt quality if it chooses and compete with the high end boys.
But over all good value for the price.
hey spartan, how ru guna save the elbow pads? im jst wondering what some ppl are doin to make em look decent. im have some made so.
also, i still dont understand why mattel didnt use the 4horsemen to do the12" sculpts aswel as the 6"ers, they would have been alot better ithink. well esp ray, in all honesty im sort of happyier with the other 3 sculpts,
also, in the pics we saw of the12" venkman, does he come with the slimed head, or are they releasing a 12" slimed venkman??
What really makes the pads look bad and out of scale is the arm strap. Take the actual pad portion itself off the strap and glue it on a
curved piece of plastic. Once pressure is actually used on the pad itself it begins to look like the screen version.(imo)
What Mattel provided is actually the best basis for an accurate pad.
I think the original pads used were sports/volleyball pads and nothing else exists in 1/6th that is close at all.
