New Ghostbusters Figures

yeah be cool if ucan get pics mate, and ru swaping to another body then or keeping witha bbi?

I'll try to take some pics without the goggles when I get a chance. The head cost me something like $35 shipped from Vartal's "Your Own Head.net" website.

The body is an old BBI body. Not sure which version. It was the only spare I had laying around that my extra black gloves could fit on.

wow that is awsome mate, the pics u got up of vartals head looks alot better then his own photos he showed when he put them up!

the likeness is really gr8. im even more so torn between his and spensers now!! whos painting it up?

Yeah, I definitely think the head looks better in context--on a body with some clothes on it. On its own, it does look a little more cartoony and exaggerated, but it definitely looks terrific on the body, and in my humble opinion, is the most accurate looking Ray sculpt that I've seen. Now looking forward to seeing how it looks once the repaint gives him some life.

Regarding that, I just sent a PM asking a boardie that did some repaints for me in the past, but I'm not sure who will do it for me until someone agrees to do it.

yeah i gota agree, it does look alot better than the 1st pics vartal posted. at only $25 i may give it a shot and see what its like in hand. it was the forhead that originaly put me off, but it doesnt look so bad in your photos!!


i must admit tho, i prefer spensers other heads to the others of vartals.

Karamazov, do you think Vartal's head will fit into the body the figure comes with? I wasn't planing on changing it you see?

Maybe it could fit on that body with some minor modifications. The Ray neck is sculpted to the body, and has a little Hot Toys like peg that seems to plug into the head itself. The Vartal head has the neck sculpted on, of course, so you would have to slip the custom head over Ray's neck, or possibly cut part of the neck off. I would take the head off to check, but it looks like it will damage the head if I try.

alright! got shipping confirmation for 6" ray! now i got egon AND ray on there way! btw, those 12 inch figures look sooo detailed especially the proton packs look amazing, but i just dont have that kind of room for 12 inch figs. plus, they look too puffy. times like this i prefer sculpted plastic to baggy puffy doll clothes.


also, it says winston is available in December, are they releaseing a new GB figure every other month? does that mean we'll be getting peter in february? and when is peck gonna be available?

heres a release list mate, dates may change from what listed but its a nice guide to go by.

go down to th bottom of the page as they have a news bit which is always updates and states they got the image rights to sigourney weaver and rick moranis as louis.

after winston 6", peck is the nxt one. unless they swap em round and release venkman then peck

damn! why are we getting peck before peter?? thats so friggin odd i swear. btw my name is peter so naturally venkman is my favorite lol. i dont get the reasoning behind that one. i actually only recently found out about the peck figure. dont know if i'd be that nuts about a louis tully or dana barret, just ghostbusters and ghosts. peck is only nesscary really for the Grid.

got a notification from royal mail saying i have to pay £15 customs charge on 12" ray! anyone else have to pay this?

well to my knowledge the release pattern had something to do with the order of how mattel aquired the likeness rights. i believe bill murray was one of the last ones to sign off his likeness rights, therfore his figure being the last to go into production. william atherton/peck signed off his rights before bill murray, so i gues thats why.

as for other characters, id disagree and happily buy any ghostbusters characters/variants etc no matter how minor the charactor is, id buy a yanosh or judge from gb2 if they did em haha.

and really louis and dana are pretty major characters in the story, so i think they deserve aplace in the figure set. but im a big gb nut so id buy any figure they do ahah.

im so bad iwill prob buy the clean egon when hes finaly out. altho slimed peter looks cool!!

karamazov80, thanks for posting the photos of Vartal's unpainted Ray head. It does look really good...Better than I thought. Really great Aykroyd likeness. I just think it needs a bit more hair sculpted on the top to get that 'high hair' look he had in GB...but the face sculpt looks GREAT!

As for my GB 12" Ray with the switched-out flight-suit, here it is! Still needs a little futzing (might be a tiny bit 'too' padded...but it looks better on a TT...for now it's on the Mattel body until I get Spencer's repainted heads in...) Also still needs to be dyed to the more green/grey of the suits in the film...it's still too tan/taupe. Then I'll add the nametag and the GB logo to the sleeve! Anyways, here is the WIP so far...
