LOL what a cluster ____.
Hot Toys has managed to piss off almost their entire international customer base.

I don't mind not being able to get the telescope. Now I don't have to worry about ordering from one of the US sellers.

I'm in Australia, its cheaper and faster to buy directly from the Chinese/HK sellers.

Agreed 100%! That's a kick to the nuts of all of their customers outside of the US and Japan. Why not have SSC do the exclusive like they have in the past, seeing as how so many of their customers are outside of the US. Saying "yeah, outside of the US can order from SSC, but you can't secure a long telescope. It's available to our US customers only. HT's orders, so don't kill the messenger."

Yeh, I don't give a toss about the telescope either, but it is an odd marketing move. How does it benefit HT to makes this exclusive to US and Japan distributors? If it is as some have suggested to discourage US buyers from sidestepping US distributors, why does HT then need to prevent non-US buyers buying the exclusive from US distributors?

Oh well, at least it's a telescope and not an alternative face sculpt or something.

Just po'd this from Angolz along with Sweeney Todd, so since Angolz is based in hong kong does that mean i will the telescope?

It's a strange marketing decision for sure.
I mean, it's not like the POTC movies are shown only in the US and Japan. :lol

Couldn't tell you why they are doing a regional exclusive. :thud:

DarthMadden posted that comment about non-US customers ordering from SSC won't get the long telescope, so even though they are a Japanese distributor, since you're not in Japan probably not. Just an odd and stupid situation!!!

Probably because they understimated the demand for it. I wouldnt' blame them for thinking only a small group would care much about having a gag accessory from a short moment in a movie that this figure isn't even based on.

Still, it's these small details that could make others feel under-appreciated or feelings of HT playing favorites.

In my opinion, this was not the smartest decision they've made.
As a matter of fact, I don't believe they have a single good reason why they are doing it.

But who am I to judge?

Last I checked on Angolz their JS listing did not include the telescope.

Freakin' telescope! I hate myself for even talking about it:gah:

Angolz is based is HK

But the fact of the matter is, if non-Japan residents order from a Japan retailer, they won't get the scope. It will only go to Japan residents. Same in the US if you order from SSC. If you're from the UK, you won't get the scope. See what I'm saying?

This is very strange and seems like its a lot of extra work. There must be something happening in background that we don't know about.

That's ____ed up and really unfair!:(

Hey Calcifer, love the sig.

Thank's dude!:)

I am also wondering myself how the process behind it looks like.
How do they know how many non us/jap customers will buy the item?

Maybe they estimated non us/jap sales for about (e.g) 500 units. At the end it won't match 1:1, so there will be too much or too less telescopes.
So what will they do with the remaining telescopes or will they produce new ones if more non us/jap customers bought it than estimated?

Another option would be that "every" item comes with this telescope from the beginning and the end distributor have to sort them out regarding the customer's location. But this will also result in many remaining telescopes and is very uneconomic.

Argh, questions over questions :gah:

Same here. Where did you order yours from? I'm considering ordering a 2nd one. (POd my first from SS)

lol all this over a plastic toy telescope that tbh is a 2 second gag from a previous film - it's not even from stranger tides. Just be happy we are getting such a great fig with or without the telescope.

The problem I've noticed with DX models...is that when you move the PERS looking down, the expression always looks really odd. Thats because when a human looks down, your eyelids naturally move with your eyes. Obviously the figure cant do that. Its fine if you just dont direct the PERS down.

A lot of people talk about how durable, seamless figures will be the next landmark innovation this hobby, but reading your post I think the next big thing might well be retractable eyelids.
