But would that core group watch a superior cut then decide to release the inferior version?

You're saying that Gareth is sitting thinking, they should've released my better cut lol.

Holy **** Jye, you were ON that post. It was like as soon as I hit the "post quick reply" button you responded.

What makes you guys so sure that the original Rogue One wasn't a better film? You can't just go by interviews. Who knows how it originally played out. Just because you looooooved the final product doesn't mean it's superior to what was originally intended.

This kind of stuff fascinates me. I love seeing how things almost went down during movie production.

I've worked in film, and it can be one of the most frustrating and bizarre endeavours imaginable. Politics (even on indie productions), nepotism, money, favours, egos...it's crazy. I can't believe anything gets made much less anything good.

He can see things before they happen....

A-Dev. Promise. Promise me you will train Jye. He is the chosen one. He will bring balance. Train him.

Ok, you guys may have noticed this....but it hit me like a freight train watching ANH today (on BR...who would think BR could male a 40 year old flim look better?)

So, for me, one of the biggest holes in the entire OT saga was the fact that Luke just happened to get the plans from a person who happened to be his sister, who just happened to be running from her Father , and that just happened to end up in the hands of the Fathers teacher and greatest enemy.....

When you think about it too much...it really hurts the narrative and make the whole saga pretty lame and chock full of unbelievable coincidence. I shut off my brain when I think these thoughts...and basically say, "Well all that was the will of the Force".

BUT , now one man's decision in RO makes all that coincidence unneeded...well less so.

BAIL ORGANA.

Follow this logic, everything we see in the OT is a direct result of Bail's decision to involve Obi in the stolen plans..even though it did not go exactly as he planned.

1. Bail decides to enlist Obi's help.

2. Bail decides to send Leia to Obi with the Death Star plans.

3. Bail KNEW that Luke and Leia were brother and sister.

4. Bail knew Obi was watching over Luke.

5. Bail also knew they were Darth Vader's offspring.

If all this is true, then Bail was instrumental in bringing the Skywalker's together and is the reason Luke ultimately confronts Vader.
Even though Bail's plan sort of went haywire....it still worked.

The fact that Luke got the droids first may not have really amounted to anything since Obi was pretty keen on getting Luke to learn the force. All that might have changed is Leia and Luke would have been reunited on Tatooine.

Ive always wondered why they didn't change Luke's last name. I could maybe see them hiding him with Owen and Beru (it wasn't as if Anakin knew them very well), but the last name Skywalker is pretty distinctive.

Though all things considered, Luke kind of got the raw end of that deal.

I'm still curious about the scene from the trailers in Jedha where the Stormtroopers are taking X-Wing Pilots prisoner. We also see the downed X-Wing during the battle. I wonder how much more was shot there.

I love how after that fight Chirrut sits down on one of the Stormtroopers he bested. Insult to injury.

It's just because when Lucas shot SW he didn't have all the family drama ironed out and at the time Vader and Anakin were different people (and Ben really was telling the truth about Anakin being murdered.) Once ESB definitively made Vader Luke's father then yeah, him keeping the name instead of going by Lars is a bit silly but that's just because of how the story evolved.
