I lucked out this year, I didn't know Coulson would die, Batman would live, Blake would rise,

I'm content knowing nothing about Bond other than that the Bond girls look fugly and Adele's song is just ok.

Thanks for the spoilers.:slap:lol

Overall, I thought the movie was good but not great. I enjoyed it. There was one major thing I didn't like .....

HUGE SPOILER :
M dying at the end. Judi Dench is my favourite M. I loved her one-liners and relationship with Bond. She is one of the reasons I adore the Bond franchise. So she'll be sorely missed :(

:lol:lol:lol

Well, if I don't see anyone for a few day it's because NY will be torn to shreds in this hurricane.

Can't wait for the tree to impale my Tumbler and Enterbay Batman into a shishkabob. :(

And here I always thought the perfect storm was Nam, Void and DiFabio in a titty bar! :lol

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Oh yes, I could see it now:

Void to stripper bartender: "Can I please have a pepsi, or water, and what did you think of TDKR" :lol

Thanks JYE, I've been wanting to use this.

Just back. As far as Craig's flicks go this one is infinitely better than quantum but still doesn't beat Casino Royale for me.

Loses points for dragging a bit in the middle plus some glaringly crap cgi. Beautifully shot throughout for the most part though, I loved seeing the db5 drive through Glencoe.

Haven't seen it yet but, apart from the title song, pretty forgettable soundtrack. Bring David Arnold back for the next one methinks.

watched skyfall last nite, at a special preview screening sponsored by omega (bond's watch brand).

i have to say it's definitely one of the best bond films in recent memory. however, i still prefer goldeneye and casino royale.

my biggest gripe is that the film didn't have a whole lot of action. not that i expect non-stop car chases and fight scenes. but this slightly under-delivered on the action. which isn't to say whatever action skyfall does have is poor. quite the opposite. the action is well choreographed, clearly shot and expertly delivered. daniel craig is a fantastic physical actor and of all the bonds, he's the most compelling and convincing to watch in action.

throughout the viewing, i couldn't help but be reminded of the filmmakers' admission that they'd used nolan's the dark knight as inspiration. many plot and character elements felt pretty similar to it.

javier bardem was absolutely delightful as the villain and every time he was on screen, the film just got that much better. i just didn't like how his ending was resolved. i felt his character deserved better.

director sam mendes elevated the material while paying due homage to the essence of the franchise, with all its iconic elements. it felt that by the end of the film, we had arrived full circle back to the bond we've known & loved for 50 years. and most importantly, it felt like bond had now EARNED these things. you'll know what i mean when you see it.

overall, quite a good film, just not great.

Agreed, he deserved a much better ending.

To be honest, the more I think about it, the more dissatisfied I am with the ending.
Whilst the movie started off promising, the last 20 mins of the movie (the entire part in Scotland) was unnecessary and quite frankly, didn't make sense at all. They hole up in Bond's abandoned, rundown childhood manor with almost no guns, defenses and no backup. All it took was one missile from a war helicopter and M, Bond and Kincade would've been crispy toast. That's not smart at all.

Also, I was baffled at the stupidity of Kincade after their escape from the manor : You're trying to hide from armed gunmen in the dark, who outnumber and outgun you and what do you do? You shine a FLASH LIGHT IN THE DARK!! Was there not enough light from the burning house to guide your way? Are you trying to get yourself killed?

Thought this film was boring as hell. Too much talking which is fine if its going somewhere but it usually didn't. The humour fell flat and the story was weak. Not a patch on Casino Royale.

Not seen it yet but does Javier Bardem live up to all the hype as one of the great Bond villains?

I liked both of Craig's Bond films, this is supposedly a younger Bond back when he's just joined MI6 so it works well with the style of action packed adventure movie more than the suave sophisticated detective/spy of Connery's first few films. Personally i'd love for Bond 24 to be a remake of OHMSS but i can't see that happening with Christopher Nolan set to direct.
