Wow, adjusted for inflation, TROS is going to finish up only about $50m ahead of AOTC's global total. Almost as shocking as it ending up almost exactly even with Joker globally.
What's kind of staggering is that Disney's total negative cost on TROS was over $400m (possibly as high as $450 as the production budget has been reported as anywhere from $275m to closer to TLJ's just-under-$320m,) meaning breakeven was around $800-900m - that's still a $150m profit and non-theatrical to come along with being a big driver of merch, but that's probably getting a little thin for Disney in the context of Galaxy's Edge issues.
Especially when you consider Frozen 2 cost half that - $150m (with total negative cost maybe $250m, so break-even is $500m)- and has earned close to $1.5B worldwide.
