Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I think it's hilarious that the pollsters think it'll be this guy:

There was an Easter Egg in Iron Man 2 of Granov's design for the character on a billboard when he flew past it:

Although I have my doubts. Fin Fang Foom would bring a lot of backstory that they don't have. As for CGI, that is a no brainer, there are scenes that we've seen in this shooting that show green screens all over the place.

That IM 2 concept art looks kind of like Atlantean's armor, like I've seen Attuma wear in the past. Maybe Loki enlists Attuma and his rabble and Namor isn't involved.
The weapons shown on set show a metallic gold body as well as energy staffs being used on Ironman.

Wow, he just wrote his own script lol

I was convinced those weapons on the set of the movie were from outer space, now i'm starting to believe they're from under the ocean, or at the very least the Hudson River :lol

I hate not knowing every single detail of the story before going to see the movie when it opens dammit it :lol

:lol

Something else I remembered, Atlanteans are blue.
Except for half breed Namor.
In some still shots of the Avengers filming there are what appears to be blue smears on Thor and Capts clothing...
Enemy blood?

I tell ya......I was already excited with the Ultimates / Chitauri / Skrulls/ possible Thanos angle that was being reported for quite sometime now but I really really love this change in direction if that's indeed what is happening.

As much as I love all the recent Marvel movies, I just want Marvel to make one so BIG, so over the top bat____ insane that it completely blows me away.

Everytime I watch a Marvel movie I feel like Nolan is laughing at me :lol

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I honestly believe Thor broke the hatchet with opening up the marvel universe. Anything else is just add-on to more awesomery. Avengers Hype>TDKR Hype

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Was anyone surprised by these numbers?

Thor:

Domestic: $181,030,624
Foreign: $267,482,200
Worldwide: $448,512,824

Captain America:

Domestic: $172,146,000
Foreign: $164,500,000
Worldwide: $336,646,000

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Not really. There were a lot of Superheroesque films out this year not just in the summer but remember that The Green Hornet and Sucker Punch were thrown into that category by a lot of critics and therefore the common moviegoer. Add those to Thor, X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern, Captain America, even Super and you've got heavy over saturation. Things aren't going to be much better next year. You won't see The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises pulling TDK cash

I thought he was referring to the domestic / foreign splits, in which case no, not surprised by that at all.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I think it makes sense that Captain AMERICA did better in AMERICA than overseas...

Thor did better overseas than in the US because there are more people overseas than in the US...

I never expected Thor to make more domestic than Cap though, that was very surprising for me.

Ultimately Mike is right though, over saturated.

But I love it :rock

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I also think it helps that Thor came out earlier giving it more (summer) time to sell whereas Cap was at the end of the good-movie season

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Hasn't it already established that the "Leviathan" referred to on the Avengers call sheet ( 'cos that's where the rumour started) is actually a model of film camera that is being used on the shoot ? ( Hate to p%^ on the "Atlantean/Namor " theories !) :slap
