was your sim flawed or not?

SSC has already received my return SIM. I think I may be one of the first couple people with RMA #s, so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

My gut tells me there are VERY FEW if any replacements that are in mint Condition based on the damage rate reports,

So maybe this will be one of those 5 months deals.

The good news is we should all get a mint SIM to replace our flawed ones.

And, this is major kick ass piece IMO. It's beautiful.

maybe you or someone else knows this. is the ss policy on returns to provide pictures of the damage before being issued an rma number for return? a friend of a friend got a sim and he says it's not their policy, but they are asking him to do so anyways. i don't believe this could be any company's policy and i think the guy is misinformed. especially with the problem being so widespread with sim. can anyone give the real poop on this? and just looking at the poll, it seems flawed to non-flawed is 6 to 1. holy crap!

They have asked for pictures of the edition number on the base on my last 3 (now 4) RMA requests on my last 4 statue purchases. This is the first I have been asked for pictures of the damage though and some additional steps which I thought were overkill.

I am sure it is to verify the edition number and damage but hopefully it will also be used as a tool to tighten up the quality control.

Here is the e-mail I received....

Dear Nathan,

Thank you for taking the time to contact our Returns Department. I’m so sorry to hear that your Stealth Iron Man arrived damaged and that you are so displeased.

In order to better assist you, please provide .jpg photos of the damage to your statue as well as the number printed on your base. Please make sure that all photos are clear, focused, and contain either the base with the number displayed or a piece of paper with your full name, order number and base number clearly printed. We would like detail of the damage as well as a clear view of the affected area.

Sideshow Collectibles always welcomes collector feedback so that we may improve our products and services. Based on suggestions received from owners of our previous Iron Man products, we have improved the internal packaging and packing procedure for the Stealth Iron Man statue and continue to welcome any feedback.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience while we work to find the best resolution possible.

Please let me know if you have any further concerns or questions.

Best Regards,

Inthia Seabrooks

wow nathan. i wouldn't have believed it. won't they actually see the damage when the statue is returned? i have not dealt much with sideshow and have never returned something i've bought. but to require pictures before rma kind of puts a hole in the 'satisfaction guaranteed' policy i've read so much about.
especially when they are quite aware of the problems with the sim. overkill bordering on ballsy, imo. now i have returned some damaged stuff to bbts and they never asked to confirm damage with pictures. can't and shouldn't that be done on their end? reminds me of microsoft. :lol they put out a hole filled operating system like vista and expect the user to report bugs before they put out a service pack. are we all guinea pigs? :rotfl

I got the same email as you...just sent in my pics...my statue was banged up

Maybe that's why they want pictures so they can see exactly where the statue is rubbing. I don't know.

Yep, they wanted pics of damage and a pic of the base with Edition number or of the Box with EN or.... Just the EN before issuing RMA #.

WOW I CANT BELIEVE THE RATIO OF DAMAGED TO UNDAMAGED.. THIS TRULY CONFIRMS THAT I AM INDEED SPECIAL COMPARED TO THE BULK OF YOU LIKE I HAVE ALWAYS SUSPECTED..

:lol < ROFL

Do you suppose they'll change the packaging for those statues that haven't been shipped yet? Or is that maybe just wishful thinking.

For the Old West Ghost Rider Fiasco they eventually made new special packing for the base that they were having so many issues with.. It did however take I believe 3 tries before I got it in mint.. The Old West is my only issue I've ever had w/ a Sideshow product.. And they made it right in the end..

that blows because i packed mine back up. freaking pain to unpack for pics. why would anyone lie about the damage? SS will see the damage anyway when it gets sent back. and if there's no damage then they just don't refund shipping.

and if it is undamaged then someone will damage it to get their shipping back so it's in their best interest to just take it back so they can turn around and mail that one to someone else. i agree.

I was told 60-90 days for replacements. I'm sure some of that time is due to Chinese New Year which is starting right now for most of the country.

I sent Inthia my pics on Wednesday night but have not received an official RMA# as of yet.

This is bad news for ALL.

I spoke with SSC and yes, the replacements in the warehouse did NOT pass inspection so it will be an estimated 60-90 BUSINESS days for replacements to ship.

Which means your RMA is probably meaningless as far as when the replacements will be shipped back as they will all ship at the same time.

Why flawed SIM will be destroyed: The high gloss finish is impossible to touch up.

What happened: packaging from factory not to specifications.

Will they be packaged differently this time: Yes

So that's the story. 60-90 Business Days is the Estimate.
