I don't think I've read the marvel now stuff. I've got like years worth of comics I have not gotten through yet. Being deployed for years during military, and then busy and travel for work and then a little kid. I bought everything but just have not gotten to read. Got probably 10 long boxes full of stuff I've never read. Guess I should start hitting it. I've spot read some stuff. Just don't think marvel now was in that list.

Is it just the story or the art?

If you grew up on classic 70's/80's Marvel (i.e. Michelenie/Layton Iron Man), your mileage may vary with Marvel Now! - The first half of the Iron Man run is drawn by Greg Land, so the artwork's oddly static and awkward. Tony Stark usually looks like Freddie Prinze Jr with Down's syndrome hiding a devilish secret. The story's consistently-written but unspectacular and features a few seriously stupid plot twists as the run draws to a close. Superior Spider-Man feels like something that should have been a 4-6 issue limited series dragged out to something like 30 issues and the plot and characterisation are all over the place - deeply unsatisfying. Marvel Now! Thor was pretty good from what I remember, and whichever Avengers title had Jerome Opena on art duties. The follow-up, All-New Marvel Now! really turned me off to the point where I barely read anything from Marvel any more.

Mind you, to get to that you've got to get through for Iron Man alone Extremis (good), Matt Fraction's runs including Bleeding Edge (bad) and Mark Millar's character assassination of Tony Stark known as Civil War (edgy).
