Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS195D1 - Iron Man 3: Iron Patriot Diecast Series Official Specs

Price-wise, I guess the additional investments in Marvel's 3D data that they acquired & possibly actors' wanting more dough for the use of their likeness (considering how popular how HT's products are) were contributing factors to the price hike.

That said, my question is - if the same figure could be sold in Asia for $225, why are Sideshow charging $310? Reminds me of the time I got my DX12 for only $200 USD net in Singapore (via HT's authorized distributor there), while SS was charging $260 for the same figure. Surely with higher demand in the USA SS could have lowered the price a little?

Hot Toys may have raised prices, but imo SS are not faultless themselves for the crazy prices.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS195D1 - Iron Man 3: Iron Patriot Diecast Series Official Specs

Hot Toys Iron Men continue to suffer from impossibly skinny proportions.

My biggest complaint of the line thus far as well. I've owned them all only to sell because they didn't look right next to other figures IMO.

The Mark I was great but not my cup of tea. I have the Mark IV (best suit thus far IMO) and Monger. I hope the new die cast line addresses these issues because I don't need the entire line up just one awesome Mark suit will be just fine. If it is $300 then so be it...

Here's hoping they'll fix the proportions on the actual figure.

They do have the 3D print out based on Marvel's 3D data (pictured center) to refer back to (which looks fantastic and spot on in the Mark 42 pic above...duh) so I'm hoping they'll beef both Patriot and 42 up before release.
Thanks for that pic! This looks to be one of the reference images they're using (behind the grey prototype on the right):

A die-cast MMS figure with those proportions and a great tony stark head sculpt would be a guaranteed buy for me, even at $300. Because it looks freakin' perfect!

yeap...i believe most are having reservations still because of the proportions too, and if the picture is anything to go by, Mark XLII will also suffer from the same skinniness as Patriot. Which is a shame, considering how beautiful HT's figures always turn out to be.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS195D1 - Iron Man 3: Iron Patriot Diecast Series Official Specs

One of my biggest gripes with the iron man MMS figures has been how frail, hollow, and light they feel; compared to a batman figure that both looks like a rubber suit and feels like a rubber suit, or the great weight of their Predator figures, their iron man figures have always dissappointed me. So I very much welcome an iron man figure that actually has the weight and feel you'd expect.

That said, the more these figures cost the more critical I become; not only would I expect the head sculpt to be a dead-ringer at $305, but the proportions and minor details would need not be overlooked either. And sadly, Hot Toys Iron Men continue to suffer from impossibly skinny proportions. Rhodey would require Barbie doll proportions in order to actually be inside this Iron Patriot suit:

Imagine how narrow his hips would have to be, or how long his legs and neck are, and how tiny his head. I mean Jesus, somebody get that kid a sandwich!

They need to squash his proportions all down by like an inch. For reference:

Looking at these two photos, the middle section looks way to long. The HT figure has a big blue piece in the mid section and the movie one has very little blue in the mid section.

Sometimes I wonder why their 1/4 IM busts have such perfect proportions, but their 1/6 versions always look a tad skinny - Mark V's proportions probably was the biggest (and worst) deviation between the 1/4 bust and 1/6 versions.

I honestly don't understand it as well. They have the data straight from Marvel in their faces yet they make them as if a man with anorexia is in it.

Btw, just got done watching "Olympus Has Fallen." Nice movie, but couldn't help thinking what if Iron Man had been in the movie, or if Gerard Butler had geared up in an Iron Patriot suit haha...

its impossible to compare this way. they are both in different poses. the movie photo is crunched over while the ht is arched back.
look at how high the torso is resting on the midsection in comparison to the movie still

I wanted this figure but i'm not paying that much extra for diecast which i really really dont even want. If they do a plastic version i wont hesitate to order it.

Actually the stomach area does look too long, look at the triangles on ht's version waist in comparison to the movie still.
You can clearly see that the movie version has the chest covering most of blue stomach section.
Also the movie version has only 1 triangle showing at his side.

How much do you think that plastic version would cost? The price for Tony Stark and DX T2 BD shows HT prices are escalating again. You're mistaken about the cost being a result of material change. This is normal price increase akin to most HT releases. The die cast is just an added bonus. In fact. HT was wrong to call this anything else than a standard mms.

Well either way it looks like i will have to cut right back or stop collecting as i dont think i can justify spending that much.

You guys seen that "investigation" on HT's FB page? Kinda funny.. someone caught that HT recycled one of the pictures of the Diecast Iron Patriot Bust fand tried to pass it off like it was of this figure. :lol

oh please, $310 for a figure with a handful of accessories, vs your 2 examples where they come with a heap of additional parts.

If this was a plastic figure i'd expect it to be $230, a small increase on the Mark I or II AU (Which are 2.0s), but less then the VII due to less extra parts.

Die Cast is *THE* reason its more expensive. its not a bonus, we're paying for it

Where do you see this? I don't see this on their fb page or the community page.

The one and only picture of the back, so we do not even know what the back of this thing really looks like. Way to go HT.

its not either or. the practical suit appears to sit lower while the cg is mostly raised. just looking quickly at the theatrical trailer you can see examples of both upper and lower. its an issue that's effected all IM movies to some degree.

Then again Mk VII is $250 where Mk VI was $210. If each figure is around 20% more expensive than the one that preceded it, then that takes the next iteration to $300.

I'm not convinced accessories adds much to the price point. Selina Kyle comes with a sidearm and a few switch-out hands and still commands a near-$200 MSRP. People in that thread seem to be convincing themselves that it's ok to pay it because they imagine how much more it'd cost with additional accessories. My take is that a pearl necklace or whatever else they could've included wouldn't have affected the MSRP much if at all.
