Because they knew they'd nailed the James Coburn likeness and didn't need anyone to confirm it. The outfit they just got from Hasbro in storage from the Kenobi they never released and it doesn't take so long to make some boots and a belt. The arm with saber is shared by Luke so it had to be done anyway.

It's great that Luke is arriving early. :)

I just hope he didn't get Kenobied in the rush. :panic:

ooooohhh, let us hope this is not a thing.

It's Hot Toys' version of getting Draked. :monkey3

:rotfl

But Luke has looked good from day one. So I went all-in with reward points - no turning back if it gets Kenobied.:slap

It is a nice surprise to have it earlier.

It could only happen if HT decided against the proto and went for a reserve set of clothing and head from an unreleased Hasbro Luke.

:horror

You in deep. :lol

Luke looks really good to me though, looks way better to me in the protos than Ben ever did. Should be a great figure that you should have a nice discount for from those RPs.

That's not the lit saber. That's just Hot Toys typical lack of attention to detail when it comes to taking promo photos. Luke never once poses with his saber like that in either hand, let alone his left. :lecture

Think they were going for the car-accident-face Hamill promo shot:

So it may be possible they use the left hand for the LED saber? though it makes sense they would just reuse the part from Kenobi. Has there been anything to confirm which hand it is for Luke? Documentation? pictures? On the Kenobi listing of parts it says, "One (1) right palm for holding lightsaber in alternative pose" but a part like this isn't listed for Luke. It is interesting that the only Blaster hand the figure comes with is the left hand. This got me looking and I noticed that in the classic SW movie poster Luke is holding the blaster with his left hand. Then I looked it up and found out that Mark Hamill is left handed, so perhaps they did make this his saber hand too? I am not rooting for this, just wondering what they did.

That would be great for setting up a pose like that promo shot - then you'd have a Luke that looks nothing like Hamill holding a saber in the wrong hand. The most epic of fails. It could be what they're going for.

Hamill may be left handed, but Luke is right handed in the movies.

Then again, this is what HT say about Kenobi:

Authentic and detailed likeness of Sir Alec Guinness

They mistyped "James Coburn" - surprised no one at Sideshow caught that typo. Anyway, all I'm hoping for is a great SSC Pilot Luke sculpt so I can pull the HT version off and sell it to some sucker on eBay - couldn't care less about the saber in fact.

They may have forgotten to tell Mark Hamill that Luke was right handed when shooting ANH :wink1: ...

Of course he uses his right hand a lot too... Luke at least seems to be Ambidextrous :rotfl

looks like left hand is only used for his saber in promo shots, your point?

My point is that I'm collecting figures based on the movies, how about you?

Hot Toys shots show the saber with the right hand on the bottom, the left hand on the bottom, only the left hand. My guess would be that it's just going to be in the right hand like they did with Kenobi though.

If nothing else, they're consistently inconsistent. :) Sideshow did the same thing with some of their photos - Deluxe Vader - nasty posing.

My point is that I'm collecting figures based on the movies, how about you?

Only that if you insist on going by what we see in the actual movies you can't say "Hamill may be left handed, but Luke is right handed in the movies" when what we see on screen are times when Luke often uses his left hand as his dominant hand (like with a blaster). From what we see in the film is that Luke is at least ambidextrous. In reality this was likely Hamill just going to what was comfortable for him as a left hander from time to time contrasted with the times when they staged and choreographed scenes with him using his right hand. Regardless of intention what we get on film then is a character that can use either hand has his dominant hand.

I only engaged in this topic out of a mild interest because I noticed the figure may treat Luke like a left hander by providing only a left handed blaster hand and that we don't know what hand the LED saber will be (unless someone has some documentation or pics?).

I'm not rooting for a left handed saber hand, because I'd like to put Luke in a particular pose that has the saber in the right hand. I was only wondering what Hot Toys decided to do, and if they decided to make Luke left handed, I was curious about how they arrived at that conclusion whether it is right or wrong.

If you want to argue Luke is right handed and believing that makes collecting figures more enjoyable for you that fine with me. I just think Luke is a made up person and all we can tell from the movies about which hand is Luke's dominant hand is that the movies (as movies can be about lots of things) is inconsistent at best. I hope if Hot Toys treats Luke like a left hander it doesn't ruin it for you. It won't ruin it for me, though I will be a tiny bit disappointed if I can't put the LED Saber in his right hand. But then again when I preordered I didn't even notice the LED Saber and so if it's cool then it's a bonus for me, if not then no big loss.

Makes economic sense for them to use shared parts, so it could very well be the same as Kenobi

All Jedi are ambidextrous. :)
