Well I think there is a difference in deep down caring and leaving your name in and if you win you win, if not who cares.

If I have the chance to put my name itno a drawing to win a million bucks, of course I am going to put my name into it, if I don't win who really cares. This is obviously a little less drastic but think the same principle applies for him. He has already won before.
