Nice job Toys, as always.....

I will be that guy, neither of these (SSC or HT) is the definitive Maul. He’s now in Darth Vader territory. Either on is fine for a DM representation. But they both have pretty major shortcomings, mainly because both companies compromised somewhere.

SSC on the tailoring and paint....

HT on the body, ridicules 2nd sculpt, and toy like speeder

Good to hear that the HT has the ankle articulation Wor. I plan on picking up some DX parts to make a great Maul. Outfit, blades, possibly the boots, and a dynamic stand.

true... best option is always buying both [emoji51][emoji28]

Especially for a character that has two drastically different looks like Maul.

The HT boots are definitely a little odd in how they articulate, so be sure to look at the video first to make sure you like them.

Odd is very apt for how they are, mine are also a little loose

So my Collector Sense started tingling with this guy. My focus is Battle of Hoth. I’m not a PT fan. But I love that duel and this DX release just looked special to me somehow. Had to see for myself.

First impressions (15 minutes):

1. Not pudgy or fat. Robes need to be pulled and re-positioned.

2. Neck may be easily shifted on the torso, magnetic head sculpt is easily shifted very subtly, nice and expressive.

3. No big surprise but body is very good. Smooth joints easily posed.

4. Very nice details on bike and probe droid. Bike is sharp and nice display piece.

5. Sculpt looks fantastic to me. It looks like a mini Darth Maul.

Release on the whole is sick. Screws up my focus but feels so quality. Feels DX.

Your mileage may vary; I don’t have the SSC and won’t, but this thing is kind of what Hot Toys is all about; unless it looks radically different tomorrow.

Losing light now; spent the day with the girlfriend so only just cracked this open. Here are some quick and dirty snapshots.

Looks great on those pics, ZE. Good to know he isn’t pudgy looking in hand. That’s the vibe I get from all the other pics I’ve seen.

Not even a little pudgy. I haven't done any serious work with him but as soon as I pulled him outta the box, I removed both belts and pulled the robes down before replacing them.

The general vibe this figure gives me in-hand is that of an agile, expressive little ninja. Unless they made a ton of these, my sneaking suspicion is that this thing will br brutal on the aftermarket. I've had around 100 sixth scale figures over the years -- Marmits, Sideshows, Hot Toys, Enterbay, custom jobs...this is one of the best -- at least on the first impression. It feels like an 'event' figure.

If you had to do it over, would you buy the bike? I’m always fighting display space. Bike doesn’t seem too big though and looks great.

Okay, super fast. Batman is a little behind, everyone else is more or less in-line.

Maul here is slightly tilted forward and over to his left.

So easily taller than Enterbay Bruce Lee; a touch shorter than Keaton Bats (his shoulders are lower) and considerably shorter than diecast Mark 6.

Bike without a doubt.

My biggest pieces are Probe Droid, ‘89 Batmobile and A1 Hulk. The bike is sweet. Sure I could live without it, but I’m only going to buy this thing once. I don’t regret the bike.

Prequel designs are cleaner and less textured than OT, so although it has texture and basic weathering, this thing is about the silhouette. I like having it. Love the Sith Probe, too.
